7.5/10

Overall a fine book on Indigenous religion but like all anthologies its a mixed bag in terms of quality based around the fact several authors in writing with all completely different skills and desires.

Toelken - 9.5/10 - Very interesting and well written piece describing why the information gap between how natives and white people exists. Both come from different ways of viewing the world, neither are invalid ways of viewing things but the white perspective is valued above all else. I loved the story about the native man who asked the honest question of how many sheep would fit into a building.

Brown - 7/10 -Alright essay on how Indigenous religions can be reexamined and understood.

Sekaquaptewa - 9/10 - Hopi native himself, he discusses how his religion views the world differently and misunderstandings that people have about it. Kachina dolls were well explained and interesting to finally read about.

Gill - 8/10 - Interesting look in how white people view what indigenous peoples' religions mean (mainly the Navajo) vs what they actually mean and used by the native people themselves.

Comstock - 8.5/10 Good essay on the myths white people come up with about the Indigenous they encounter and how it reflects their desires and the actual current/past of natives.

Momaday - 6.5/10 Cool bits here and there about how natives the land but feels very unfinished.

Hultkrantz - 5.5/10 - Had potential to discuss native religion could contribute to theology but was dull, repeated a lot, and could have used more editing.
