Essential book for anybody involved in film, animation, or games related work.

Offers a very nice overview of the entire pipeline, the basics, the pitfalls and so on. Very useful information, especially for newcomers or people planning to start their own studio that might not be aware of the entire spectrum.

My only nitpick, if any, is that although most of the sections apply to both games and VFX, it seems like the book assumes that the main interest is VFX. Some sections don't mention anything related to games until the very end, and in some cases it feels a bit more like an afterthought. That being said, it is not hard to infer how it would apply to games, or if it applies at all. It would just be better if it was a bit clearer for newcomers, and maybe going slightly more in-depth for some more game pipeline specifics.

A heavy reading, but one that's worth it. A great insight on how a vfx and game studio operates, problems to avoid and to look forward to. A must read for anyone working or looking to work in the vfx, games or animation industry.
