I played the game first so i don't know how does it feel to someone not familiar with the story but still... I have read many manga adaptation of various games, and in this case I'm pleasantly suprised. Art is beautiful and story makes sense. I'm very sad that they didn't finish this project.

I decided to read these because I love the VN (I think it has some of N+C's better writing filled with lots of suspense and oodles of body horror) and wanted background information. I thought it was nice that we got a little more information about the Free People/Liberated in this and a little more info on Youji's sister. I do think this is confusing if you haven't already played the VN. This was written for the fans of the VN, I don't think it would entice many who haven't played it.

I wrote a review for SW Vol. 1, which more or less includes this volume. My rating remains the same 2.5 stars for the art.
