Not your mother's Fifty Shades! This is hardcore erotic public disgrace and BDSM. Fantasy Fulfilled trips are not for the faint of heart. Are you ready?
Anna Tompkins craves pain. No, scratch that. Anna is terrified of being hurt, but she wants to get over that weakness, and what better way than to hire the best in the business? Zee Montaug has made a name for himself as an operator with Fantasy Fulfilled. He hurts women so deliciously they come back to see him, over and over. Anna, though, is different. What does it mean if Zee wants to make her feel good after the session is over? And can Anna learn to trust someone while naked and bound in public?

I accepted an offer from the author of this book for free in exchange for an honest review. I read the first book in the series, Dominating Jess, earlier today. I was initially put off by the first sentence, but ended up really liking the book. So I had expectations, and they weren't met.
I think Rachel Nixx is a good writer with the potential to become a great writer. She writes well, her language is clear, her characters demonstrate who they are, rather than tell you who they are. I liked Anna. She surprised herself and the reader by being stronger than she knew. She went on a journey in this story that told coherently, but without the use of a sledgehammer. BDSM as therapy is a common trope in BDSM romance. I love the way the author used it rather literally, and in a way that was fresh and interesting. Anna stayed interesting all through the book.
The use of another common trope in BDSM romance, the apologetic sadist, was more problematic. Zee is advertised as being good at hurting women, but he never really follows through in this book. Faced with Anna, he gets maudlin about it. Personally, I was disappointed because while humiliation is not my kink, bondage and impact play are my kinks. There are a number of terrible things about an apologetic sadist: it implies that there is something wrong with being a sadist, it comes with unnecessary and manufactured drama, and worst of all, it's boring to read. Once it became clear in their second formal encounter that Zee felt bad about hurting Anna I knew how his part of the rest of the story would go. After that, I was reading for Anna. . I think it's a testament to the quality of the author's writing that I didn't come to hate Zee. I was annoyed and frustrated, but he didn't hit the level of too stupid to live.
I like the writing and the author's voice well enough that I will pay money for her next book. I'm looking forward to seeing how she grows as a writer.
Oh Wow! Oh Wow! Hot sex, troubled hearts, budding romance what more could a girl ask for! Not for the faint of heart but I can't wait to read the next in the series!
The sex was hot. I read this without having read the first one and felt like I was missing out on something. It did not seem to be a stand alone but more like a hey, here's what happened to those briefly mentioned characters from the first book. But like I said - the sex was hot! I will be getting the first book!
Anna meets Zee when hires a Dom through Fantasy Fulfilled. Zee is all business, he fulfills his clients fantasy and walks away when the scene is over. Only Zee has a hard time walking away from Anna.
NOT for me!! Sorry, this was just not a book that I enjoyed whatsoever. There was no story-line and I did not care for the characters in this book. To me this was something that is unbelievable and would not be done by anyone that had any pride in themselves. I deleted it from my Kindle.
So, I picked this because it says Anna likes pain. For those who don't read much BDSM, maybe this is an okay read. This didn't do it at all for me. It is short, thankfully. The story felt like it was whipped out and was just meh. Not for me.
