Baby, it’s Cold Outside had a wonderful start. It was sexy with some great punch lines throw in. Things started to heat up, slowly, dragging out the sexual tension between Ben and Jade. It was turning out to be a delicious hot read.
Unfortunately, after the lights went out in the story, things stopped flowing so smoothly. The interactions between the characters became stilted, even awkward at times. It didn’t matter that Ben was a “real man” that cried for his son, or that Jade’s plan had exceeded expectations. Just like it had appeared, the magic between them evaporated. Small issues niggled, like one point in the story when Jade is wearing Ben’s shirt because “he must have taken it off before she’d arrived.” If he was investigating a criminal’s house why would he have the need to take off his shirt and then put his sweater back on?
What saves Baby, It’s Cold Outside, from being a bad reading experience is the vividly scorching descriptions and the killer beginning (I’m still grinning about a few of the lines there). It was still a good read, but it could have been superb as this author is clearly talented. I’ll be on the look out for more from her.
Ok I now know why the polar ice caps are melting and it has nothing to do with global warming and everything to do with this book! This book is muy caliente!
Ben is a strong alpha male who isn't afraid to show his softer side. Jade is a woman who knows what she wants and won't back down till she gets it. You had to know when these two came together it was going to be off the charts.
At the beginning of this book I thought it was just going to be a quick sexy read but the characters are funny and likable. The author does a great job of packing some very heart touching moments into a few pages.
Looking for a quick read to warm up your nights? Then pick up Baby, It's Cold Outside and feel the heat.
