Fournography

Rate this book
Adie is madly in love with Bellamy. Unfortunately, he's a married man - but she still can't resist him, even though she's in a relationship with a hunky Spaniard that, admittedly, she uses for sex.

When Bellamy gives Adie a little token of his affections it sets into motion a chain of events that ripples through their lives and has consequences both devastating and wonderful.

Fournography is a story of romance, love, lust, sex - and of trusting your gut.

Erotic fiction is not REALLY my genre of choice when it comes to things to read however, have read other pieces of Delyth's writing and wanted to try this one on for size.

I liked the idea of four separate stories interwoven around one inanimate object.. except perhaps the inanimate object (the Shell) isn't really the only thing the four tales centre on. Granted it's the only plot device that exists in each of the four stories, but the stories themselves are linked in an existing chain of narrative. A sleeps with B, B is cheating on C, C to D, etc etc Take the shell out and for the most part the story stands as it is.

This doesn't really detract any from the stories, they are well written and the characters are interesting.

When I read the initial blurb about this I immediately thought of the movies "Magnolia" or "Crash" where seemingly unrelated stories weave and interact in interesting and unexpected ways. Often ending up full circle again.

As I said, erotic fiction is not high on my list of things to read, and I don't really know the genre. I definitely enjoyed reading this, and my comments are no criticism on the work. Just a personal view that may well be totally missing the point .

Would I recommend this book to a friend? Certainly. Would I read it again? perhaps. I don't think it has the re-read capacity as, say, Delyth's "I'm going to hell for this" but it was still a fun and enjoyable read. Considering the timescale from idea to delivery.. It's rather remarkable!

Just sharing this note left about the preview of the book (which covers most of the first story) over on the Lulu forums:

"Once I began reading, I continued and (too) quickly found myself at the end of it. I like your writing style, and found the bit that I read to be captivating."

And a review from Astragali on the Lulu page :

Del's put together a delightful collection of linked short stories in Fournography. Sweet and yet deliciously raunchy, this book is definitely worth adding to your collection.
