The Weakest Link

Rate this book
The Weakest Link is a conspiracy thriller set in the north of England 2012.

In an attempt to decrease the growing negative media attention, a government agency agrees to investigate the origin of a cancer cluster in a small country village. The story reveals the Government’s attempt to cover up the cause of the ‘outbreak’, when, despite all its efforts at concealment, the source is discovered.

The weakest link, is a young, seemingly insignificant woman who, as a precautionary measure, is unwittingly placed onto the scientific investigative team, with the intent of making her a scapegoat should the project need terminating.

As the story unfolds, the lead character finds herself carried along by events beyond her control, pitting her wits against an agency determined to silence her and her colleagues before their duplicitous scheme is made public.

‘Because no matter what you do in the future, you can never change your past!’

This is the ‘hook line’ and the premise of the book centers around secret government agencies, and how they can place people with a past, in situations that can then be manipulated, leaving them as scapegoats should the need arise in the future.

The weakest link in the story is a young woman who is placed on a project as the potential ‘fall guy’, or is meant to be. If everything had gone to plan, there would be no story.

OMG! I could not put this down. starts as a general thriller, first chapter draws you in, then good character introduction, enough information so you can build your own picture without over precision, next the build up with a few twists and then the scary stuff begins. This book snuck up on me as I didn't know intitially what the story was about and it really sucked me in. It really made me think twice about stuff I take for granted everyday and I am now looking forward to reading it again. I have ordered it already. Tracy, please please, tell me there is a sequel as I simply must know more. The Weakest LinkT.A. Lean

Loved it. Heard about this book through someone I work with and got a copy through them. It was not what I was expecting at all but a real job stopper, I could not put it down. It made me smile a few times, gave me a twinge of paranoia when I went to use my credit card and then left me with a few questions to ponder at the end so I am really hoping that there is to be a second book in the series.

This was a fantastic book. I could not put it down. It has the perfect mix of suspense, mystery and humour. It kept me enthralled from beginning to end. The only downside was..... I read it too quickly. I wasn't ready for it to end! There has to be a sequel?! Pease tell me there is more to this story!? X Marie X

This isn't normally a book I would pick up but I thoroughly enjoyed the story. It was gripping, and from the start I found I could not put it down! There was a lot of tension, suspense and I read the whole book in two sittings. Would recommend xxx

Excellent mystery/thriller. The set up to the story grabs you and pulls you in. The twists and turns keep the reader guessing and involved. A chilling premise leaves you thinking .. wow what a great imagination, right up until it strikes you it might not be so far fetched after all.

Highly reccommended. I bet this one makes it to a movie

A worthwhile read. I was hooked within the first few pages. There were a few points when I wondered where the story could possibly go next. The story had me a tad paranoid in places too! I would certainly recommend this book to others.
