Rate this book
Doctor Robert Wolf is not only a talented surgeon, but he has a gift for healing his patient’s karma too. With a simple touch, he awakens their far memories, memories of lives lived long ago and brings them to life again—for real. No sooner does the karmic doctor start work at a new hospital, than he is embroiled in a desperate struggle for survival in medieval England where he must unravel an intricate skein of karmic entanglements to heal the fear and guilt brought over by his patients from a time of betrayal and mass murder. He must find all the players in this forlorn tragedy and piece together events that unfolded at the time of King Richard’s first crusade. He must find the truth of what happened in the city of York’s darkest hours, a time of bitter resentment and hatred, a time when the city’s church and nobility united in a genocidal attack on a defenceless, Jewish population.

This book was stepping outside the genre I normally like to read but I have to say I loved it. The characters are believable and well developed and it has an interesting and thought-provoking insight in to reincarnation and the afterlife.

The story is of a doctor who through personal trauma has become able to see other people's past lives. Through his eyes and the experiences of people he encounters, a gripping story based on real historical events unfolds. The author weaves the two stories, one of the modern day doctor and one set in medieval York, together brilliantly and I was hooked from the start. Recommended!

A really good read, unusual too. The 'karmic' doctor tries to help people suffering from events that happened centuries ago when they burned the Jews of York in the tower. Julian really brings the historical events to life and the interplay between past and present makes for an interesting mystery.
