Short and to the point. If you are looking for colorful metaphors and flowery prose, you won't find it here. Which isn't a bad thing really. What you will get, is a very brief introduction to Gautama Buddha, then a brief introduction to Buddhism, and then finally the particulars of sitting from a zen perspective. After finishing this book, I was instantly reminded of the words used by Pattabhi Jois to explain yoga. Something to the effect of - "1% theory, 99% practice". Just sit, and watch what happens. That is all.
Like most Asian studies books, this is a dry read. Though the fun resides in capturing the nuggets of knowledge worthy of implementing into one's life.
