Interesting history of pre New Deal Republican Party from perspective of the time.
Myers sympathizes with those who tried to conciliate the post-1912 split between progressive and conservative Republicans, and rightly laments the tragedy that America was deprived of Theodore Roosevelt's statesmanship and drive for military preparedness ahead of World War One.
