Wanted to find out if it was worth it for Code for San Francisco to go this route. After some hard reading (due to the intricacies of the tax code), it's not, but it's amazing what restrictions there are on tax-exempt entities.

This is an excellent book and it has totally helped me file for my non-profit status. I highly recommend this to anyone who is thinking about starting his or her own non-profit organization.

Here is a book I recommend. HA! Actually, if you MUST be the one to complete the 501(c)3 application, this book is extremely useful. It really answers all the questions.

I just wanted to see how difficult it would be to transform Code for San Francisco into a 501(c)3. A little obscure at times, but I think that's the fault of the law.
