Your people might be your organization’s greatest assets, but their interactions with one another are what determine the quality and the quantity of their contributions. Few organizations know how to generate the sense of excitement, energy, and shared mission that occurs when people truly join together. This book shows how, describing four simple behavioral keys that fundamentally change how people work together — building greater trust, understanding and collaboration.
Simple things told in complex form. Particularly I disliked how the material was prepared, many different fonts, bullets, silly images, many very short stories that told nothing. All of these completely destroys the good impression of the book and left nothing in memory.
The subtitle of this book which published in May of this year is “4 Keys that change everything”. It is a big promise, and while there may be a bit of accepted hyperbole there, generally speaking the four big ideas in this book will have, when implemented, a significant positive impact on the productivity and effectiveness of teams and the individuals on them.
Some helpful models - not too much here, but a few things to check out in terms of management models and metaphors that will help teams communicate - if you’re a first time manager and need help this would be a nice quick read to help start your growth into doing a decent job
The most valuable thing that “Opening Doors to Teamwork & Collaboration: 4 Keys That Change Everything” did for me was provide a common language I can use with any team or client to clearly share ideas, assumptions, concerns, and perspectives. I’ve found that not having clarity around these things in a team environment often leads to wasted effort, decreased productivity, and, often, a team of individuals who feel they can’t share the fullest of their experiences and talents.
I definitely recommend this read to anyone who wants clear methods to better their relationships—professional or otherwise.
