The title character in this story is a little tree that doesn't have any branches or leaves, living in a forest of big, beautiful trees. The other trees make fun of it, but while they're putting all their effort into growing their big, leafy branches, the tree with no branches is growing deep, strong roots. So when a big storm comes along, the little tree is better able to weather it than the big, proud trees.

There are some parts that are a bit awkwardly written in order to make them the right length for the poem, like "They were looking for shelter from all of the wind", but I've definitely seen much worse. Overall it reads well.

The illustrations are great. They're clear, but also really detailed. The tree with no branches is just adorable, and I liked how the other trees had different characteristics depending on the type of tree. They reminded me of the Ents from The Lord of the Rings. The humans are tall and spindly like in 101 Dalmatians (which I just watched, which is probably why I thought of that).

This is a really sweet story, with a great message about how what's inside is what matters. I think it would be good for kids of any age.

4 stars.

This was a great story for kids about accepting who you are, believing in yourself, and standing tall in the midst of adversity. The Tree With No Branches, is about a little tree who gets made fun of by all the other trees in the forest for not having any branches. While all the other trees are focused on what’s on the outside and growing their leaves and branches, the tree with no branches is busy growing what really matters… his roots.

The story is told in a rhyming pattern, which I used to love as a child (still do!)
Here’s a sneak peek:

“And each of the trees that grew on that tree ranch
made fun of the one that had less than one branch!

That’s right!
It had zero.
Not one single limb.
Its outlook looked bleak and its future seemed dim.”

Not only, was this a great story that teaches children the important lesson that it’s what’s on the inside that matters, but the illustrations were also extremely eye catching! All of the pictures are bold, colorful, energetic, and striking.

I shared this book with my 1st and 2nd grade classes and they loved it! The story contains some rather exciting scenes -- age appropriate and playful, and in the end, a sweet message. The author really struck a great balance between writing a book that's entertaining and also educational. We discussed a few of these themes and the students responded well to the content--and related to its hero. The Tree With No Branches is really one of the BEST picture books I've read to my classes in a long time.

I also read this book at home to my 5 year old. She wasn't able to relate to all the themes the same way in which my older students did, however she was just as entertained, just as captivated, and just as enamored with the colorful illustrations as the other children. She also found the ending to be a fun and happy one, and was able to relate to the tree, too, but in way most 5 year olds are supposed to. The alliterative writing style was quite enjoyable.

A GREAT read! I highly recommend this book.

This is a cute little book that tells a story about a tree who is different from every-tree else because he had no branches at all. Every tree in the forest made fun of him, said mean things about him, and bragged about how great they all were because of their beautiful branches and leaves while the one with no branches had none.

I loved this 23 page book! It is just too. It teaches little kids, and also everyone who reads this, not to judge every book by its cover, or in this case, don't judge a tree by how many branches it has.

The illustrations look very detailed and of course, appropriate for a children's book. The way it was written was great, the rhyming is always a great addition.

All in all, I loved this short children's book. It was an easy read, very creative, well illustrated, well written, and it teaches the reader or the listener many things. I recommend every mom and dad to buy this book for your kid/s and read it to them before bed.

Usually, I don't review Children's Books but when I saw "The Tree With No Branches" cover and its translations. I simply couldn't help myself, it was too cute to resist.

When I first began the story the Tree with No Branches was shunned and insulted by all the pretty trees around him, and it's just because he was different from them. The best part about this book was that, even if the little tree with no branches was treated badly, he still treated others as nicely as he could.

I admired the little trees tenacity and sweetness, I don't think I'd be able to do what he did. I would probably be constantly in tears. But this little book has taught me not to shed a tear and to be brave! This book has such a wonderful hidden moral within it's pages. It is definitely the kind of book I'd read to my kids.

5/5 stars for it's wonderful illustrations, creative storyline and moral.

Children's Author Johnny Knew tackles the story of inner strength through a sweet little tree with no branches. Though he doesn't quite fit in he stays true to himself and plants his roots firmly in what he believes. This is a sweet story with clever writing, beautiful illustrations, and a story that will touch hearts young and old. Can't wait to see where Johnny's new series takes us. I recommend sharing this story with your little ones.
