This book was terrible. The story may have potential, but the spelling and language and grammatical errors are so completely distracting that it was hard to even finish the book at all. There were more sentences than I care to count that I had to just guess at what he was even trying to say. Here are a few examples that drove me close to the brink of insanity. Comments below in BOLD are actual quotes.

This was my all time favorite.

"There is a 99.386% chance it will work if you use me as a conduit...

Then this is what comes next... Ready???

"So that last..." She calculated a moment ".724% would be the probability of it turning me into charcoal, correct?"

"Yes"

Yes?!? I was waiting for someone to say "No stupid, it's a .614% chance of turning your stupid ass into charcoal." Did anyone EVER look at this piece of garbage before it got to the public's hands?

Then there are all the times that one of the characters hopped something happened. Or said that something will happen in do time. Or were honored to be in someone else's presents. And please be quite, I have a headache.

Yes these are all in this 200 page novella of crap. Please everyone, don't waste your time.

If you do want to know what the story is actually about, here's a quick breakdown. Don't read the rest if you don't want spoilers.

A boy named Ty grows up with his mother and knows nothing about his father. For his eighteenth birthday he receives a book from his father. He finds out that he has magic and a boy named Valentine, who was his online friend that he always thought was a girl comes and saves him from some big bad people that are trying to kill him. There is a bunch of angst about whether or not he is gay because he was falling for this boy that he thought was a girl, but don't worry... this story line goes absolutely nowhere. Valentine's father is one of the people trying to kill Ty, so Valentine decides to tell his parents that they are in love and are going to get married. Then they run away to go speak to the Council in New York. The rest of the book is their journey to New York and they never even make it. Blah!

I only read this book to fulfil my need for a book beginning with Q for my yearly reading challenges in my book group, but I would not read it again out of choice and am so glad I didn't actually pay for it either.

The actual plot of the story was good enough - young vampire prince turns a young wizard with great power into a vampire and together they try to get to the head council of the wizards to stop the war that has been waging between the vampires and wizards for years before the vampire's father catches up with them.

However, there were that many errors in the book which made it really hard to read at times. At first I thought they were just typos, but after a couple of chapters it almost read like the author was not a native English speaker as some of his word choices were just so wrong! For example, do instead of due, assignations when I think he meant assassinations, lots of to instead of too, several uses of then instead of than and so on. The punctuation was incredibly poor as well. Lots of full stops were missing and the author clearly does not know how to use apostrophes correctly. What this guy needs is a seriously good editor and proof reader because if this is how he is going to continue to write, he will never sell any books!

I also thought the ending was really bad as well - almost as if he had run out of ideas for a proper ending so jumped up through the story to another scene without properly finishing the one before. It did read as if he wanted to end on a cliffhanger, but had run over his allocated word count so therefore just rammed anything old thing in to keep the readers in suspense. To be honest I really don't care much for the characters and have no desire to find out what happens to them next anyway! I didn't think the characters were particularly solid characters. They had to explain everything despite it being written in the prose and regularly repeated themselves in the same sentence or paragraph. Everyone loved each other and were best buddies despite only knowing each other all of a few days and "oh how they trusted one another and would do anything to help them!" It was way over the top at times for my liking.

Don't bother wasting your time reading this book. I wish I hadn't and wish I had found a better book beginning with Q!
