Heinz Joachim Nowarra worked in the aviation industry during the Second World War.

In the postwar period, he wrote extensively on aviation history, most of which were in German with a significant proportion in English.

Most of his English language publications are published by Schiffer Military, an American publisher.

While few of these massive flying boats ever took to the skies, their lifting capacity and range made them valuable transports and patrol planes. Nowarra is able to follow each of the BV 222s and the one completed BV 238 from drawing board to ultimate fate.

As usual in this series it is all about the photographs. Frightfully little information, no analysis, no operations, photographs seem to appear in random order.
