Learn biblically-based principles for ministering to people and living a ministry life from a seasoned ministry wife, Mrs. Gordon (Gail) MacDonald. There is something here to fit just about everyoneÂ's ministry worldÂ-the excitement, the struggles, the blessings, and the consequences. This work is thoroughly revised and updated from the authorÂ's best-selling 1981 book of the same title, and is now available in paperback. The book is designed for casual reading, but it also includes discussion questions for study group or classroom use.Gail MacDonald loves the ministry. Over a period of four decades, she has been involved with four congregations and one parachurch organization with her husband, Pastor Gordon MacDonald.Throughout the book you will take a tour through these years of shared ministry. Like Paul the apostle who gave and received much from the churches, Gordon and Gail look gratefully at the journey they have shared with these distinctive groups of people. It is Gail's prayer that readers will see their own uniqueness in God's design, never trying to be anyone but themselvesÂ-the people God intended them to be. When you are finished reading, she hopes that you have heard one unmistakable messageÂ-that a life of ministry in the church is still a high call, a high privilege.
Great wisdom lies between the pages. She does not hold back and it is refreshing to reflect how she has continued life long community with her colleagues.
Gail is a phenomenally gifted and wise woman who has "been there, done that" as far as all things ministry go. This book is a must read for any woman who finds herself in a place of ministry in a church, especially pastor's wives.
Gail is full of wisdom and grace. Her life is one I want to model mine after. Her partnership with her husband is to be admired and celebrated. This book holds many keys to their longevity and effectiveness in ministry together.
This is one of my all time favourite books for any woman in ministry. I've read it several times and its so helpful and honest esp. if you value relationships.
The best book on being a pastor's wife. I underlined so much in this book. I will read again this book in the future, and have learned and can continue to learn so much!
A little tough going for me in the beginning since I feel myself to be different from the author in terms of personality. As the book went on though I so appreciated the thoughts and convictions she shared. Definitely earned its 5 stars and will keep it around to reference, even if everything didn’t line joe perfectly for me.
A must-read for ministry wives of all kinds. So many issues covered in these pages that will give wisdom, encouragement and hope to those in these positions (whether willingly or not).
