Elder Charles Nesselrodt was a free minister with the Church of the Brethren or Dunkers in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. This book takes an in-depth into the life of the average free minister at the turn of the 19th-20th centuries.
This book provides a glimpse into a little explored aspect of Brethren history, namely the life of an average plural free minister. Elder Charles Nesselrodt served in this capacity and his life gives us insight into that experience for many others like him. Terry Barkley clearly did a great deal of research on the book and is able to connect Nesselrodt's story with the larger Brethren narrative.
