A random find on my grams’ bookshelf

A sweet short novel that has an ending wrapped in a nice bow. I think there were solid ideas in it that could have been expanded on more to add more to the drama/character. But overall a sweet read about NYC in the early 1900s.

An entertaining piece of historical fiction about a young woman who leaves her posh fifth avenue home to avoid an arranged marriage to a man she despises. Her journey as she is on her own for the first time is entertaining, from traveling with orphans to working at the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory. This book was an easy summer read and I enjoyed it.

In this book is the story of Maida Jardine of New York City in the early 1900s. "Mother" wants her to marry a count so Maida runs away. Very simple but good story. A no brainer.

Very interesting time period to read about. This book deals with famiies and legacies and taking the road less travelled. I really enjoyed it.
