Another Amazing Installment

This series has simply been wonderful. I can't recommend it enough.
I know that it won't be everyone's cup of tea. I also can understand not liking certain aspects. For example, since it is written somewhat like a diary that is kept only sporadically, some things aren't always fully explored or explained and that can be a bit vexing. But sometimes that leaves more room for you to imagine and fill in things in more satisfying ways.
It also isn't like many of the isekai that are floating out there where either the character is so OP that nothing ever feels at stake or the world is so unfortunately cruel that you want to gouge your eyes out. It is mostly positive, but it does show difficult situations and can feel like real world stakes which helps draw you in further.
The best part, in my current opinion, is the unique way the author explores the idea of being immortal (or semi-immortal) and how different the view sets are and how the main character feels compared to how the others around him feel. It seems like a very believable way things would be, instead of something silly like having a 200+ year old vampire fall head over heels for an obnoxious teenager.
Simply put, I'm extremely glad I picked up the series and I look forward to further installments.

Acer has finally returned to Kaeha's dojo, at least for a few years. But time works differently for humans and elves, and once Kaeha passes on, Acer is ready to journey once more. His steps will take him far to the east, searching for the land that birthed Kaeha's martial arts. And along the way, he'll find new adventures . . .

I like the gentle way this book approaches the vast differences between Acer and the people around him. Here we see the loop being closed on one of the first generations he met---Kaeha is by now very old, and her children are grown with their own children. And when time does what time always will, Acer sets off on the road again.

And here we find two very different sorts of peoples that he meets. The first, a group of nomadic tribes living in the grasslands, introduces an issue with people and spirits that he tackles in his usual upside-down way. I like how willing he is to stop and help, even when "help" means "spend several years sorting it all out."

The second is the next major kingdom (or group of kingdoms, technically) between him and his destination. They have a rather familiar base, but the reasons why slowly unfold as he gets to know both the land and the people.

If you enjoyed the previous books at all, this one is just as good. I look forward to seeing his journey continue. I rate this book Recommended.

Acer is confronted with the consequences of his long life span, saying goodbye to those around him. Always having been curious about the origins of his sword fighting style, he decides to travel East to learn more about it and the world.

Much like previous volumes, it is a very slow paced slice-of-life story with some good characters, character development and world building. There is little to no real action, and what there is has little tension due to Acer's power. If you like the earlier books of the series, you like this one. I enjoyed it well enough, but it does lack a bit of oomph.

Good Book

If you liked the first two books in the series, you will like this book. This book does have some hints of sadness put in the best way possible almost brought me to tears.

High water mark for the series

I've enjoyed this series so far, but this volume is perfect. The pacing is great, and it introduces quite a diverse set of new friends who feel genuinely different from the typical fantasy characters of the previous two volumes.

amazing writing!

I thoroughly enjoyed this series. I can't wait for more to come out! I am eagerly waiting to see him fall in love or find his permanent companion. This series really makes you think what an endless life would be like. Now I really wish I was a high elf!
