The Viking's Mate Hunt

Rate this book
"Little bunny, little bunny. Wolf is HUNGRY!" The voice taunted me, followed by an evil cackle.

"Run, rabbit. RUN!" A monstrous bellow boomed through the night sky and crashed into my soul like a sledgehammer. I could feel a chill sweeping across my body and my heart pounding in my chest. The echoes of howls and laughter followed me from behind as I ran for my life.

***

Elisabeth's life had been harder than most since she was a child - a distant and often cruel mother and her never-ending cycle of addiction that had taken over her life. But on this fateful night, something far more sinister was lurking in the darkness, ready to take her away from it all.

Massive figures appeared out of nowhere, growling and taunting her. She tried to scream, but nothing would come out; before she knew it, she was waking up in a world where Viking werewolves ruled with mysterious faeries at their side.

Every five years, they traveled to the human realm, collecting ten girls for their mate run - and tonight, Elisabeth was one of them. With only a white dress and her bare feet, Elisabeth stood beside the other nine girls as the beasts prowled around them menacingly. A silver dagger pierced each of their wrists, signaling the start of the hunt!

"We honor the moon goddess; let your blood lead your mate to you!"

This is a good concept for a paranormal fantasy, but the story lacks world building, and the character development is lacking. There is also a LOT of typos. The story only gets two stars because of the concept. Due to that, it made me pick up the second book.

Needs a bit of work

The story has good potential, however it desperately needs to be edited and restructured. The story chops and changes, and there are a lot of details missing, undeveloped characters and the chapters are too short.

The first scene should be cut out as it’s not relevant to the story whatsoever and starts the book off with the wrong vibe. After the first few chapters the story line gets better.

I enjoyed reading parts the hunt as she unexpectedly used clever tactics, stealing a knife and hiding decent clothing. The best moment was when she flipped off the boys.

It kind of seems like she just stopped writing once she got to enough pages to call it a book. There are a few spelling mistakes. It’s definitely a first draft, and not a finished book. I think if the author spend some time on it, then it could be a good story.

Potential

So frustrating to try and read for many reasons: grammar, spelling, skips around, doesn’t connect, run on sentences and ridiculous paragraphs that are so long it’s are not to just stop. Also, sometimes the POV is not clear and it takes a minute to figure out where we’re reading from.

The storyline is definitely there but I’m disappointed I paid $6 for this. I’d get my money back if I could. I wound up skipping the larger chapters and simply reading most of the dialogue so I could just finish the book. But then it goes and just ends, and not even like “omg cliffhanger”, it literally just stops….

Spell check exists

But it seems like the author couldn’t be bothered. Wanted to like it but kept having to reread sentences to figure out what she was trying to write. Disappointing.

Red pen needed

I did enjoy the story but so many typos and some paragraphs even jumbled I felt like my kindle needed a red pen so I could grade this and I’m not even a teacher.

Good story but the writing is a little off in spots.

I’m gonna buy the next one too. There’s a few grammar errors. The story is pretty good. I can’t wait to see where it goes.

Needs a spell check

Great story but the autocorrect needs looking at eg lounges for lungs and many more. Shame as it spoils a good yarn.

good but needs a spell check

It’s a really good book. I’d give it 5 stars if someone would proof read it and fix some spelling errors
