The Dirty Mermaid

Rate this book
Tippany Ridge is a North Carolina coastal town famous for three things: fishing, surfing and mermaids. Mermaid sightings don’t occur very often, but when they do what a ruckus! Everyone gets crazy and searches out Viola Fox, the proverbial fisherman’s daughter. The story begins five years after the greatest summer of Maggie Mack's life, when she lived on the Tipp with her best friend Sarah. After a toxic marriage Sarah has run off leaving Viola in need of a store keeper. She offers her services and returns to the coast. That’s when things get really weird. It seems there’s much more to mermaid legend than shiny scales and pretty girls. Only one thing is certain on Tippany Ridge… if you’re sighted as a mermaid, well…then you’re definitely dead.

Welcome to my world. I grew up in small town called Colchester in Connecticut. As soon as I graduated from UCONN, I packed my bags and headed for Beantown! I worked in the restaurant circuit which led me from Boston to the Virgin Island of St. Thomas to Florida. I then settled down with my husband, got my nursing degree, had three boys and moved to NC. A lot of my writing was inspired by my colorful journey through life. I am an independent writer and artist. All of the artwork in my books has been created by me. I hope that you enjoy my stories and share them with you friends! Thank you!

The Dirty Mermaid is good clean fun!

I'm always "hooked" by the promise of a good mermaid tale, and when coupled with a mystery and a hint of the paranormal, it's even more appealing. The book was even better than I'd hoped! I'd love to read sequels of the book by this author!

Although I did love some of the characters in his book like Viola I just couldn't really connect with the story. I was very intereted in finding out what happened to Sarah and where she went. Overall 2.5 stars.

I was drawn to this book by the title. The author self published it and it shows. Editors help polish an author's work and the lack of this step really shows! The idea of the story is excellent and, with the help of a good editor, this could have been a much better read!

I bought this book while on vacation in Southport, NC. I loved that the author mentioned several towns and places that we visited. The characters are colorful. I enjoyed the mystery to the story. Very well written.

This wasn't what I expected and I figured out who did it, but I really enjoyed the book. The idea behind what mermaids are and the paintings was different and the atmosphere of the book was great.
