There isn’t much to say about this textbook so I’ll get right into it.

As the title suggests, the reader is in for a trip through the world of U.S. Government. The book talks about the basics (voting, primary, the media, etc.) of how the system works in this here States.

I found most of this a refresher course because of my own knowledge of everything that it was teaching through being an informed adult already. However, I did find some information that I didn’t know about and those were some of the highlights of the text.

Sprinkled throughout are topic sections that discuss subjects facing the country. There’s one called America at Odds which shows arguments on both sides of a topic (prison, for example). Another section maybe discussing other topics, but in another format.

This book does a good job usually giving the definition of certain words in the text and having those words highlighted with interactive links that give a better definition (for the e-textbook version). Also at the end of each chapter, it gives an overview of topics and glossary terms one should know, multiple choice questions (which doesn’t, except for maybe one or two times, gives the answer) and fill in the blank.

Overall, the book is what one would expect from a textbook, only with a few extra features.

It is more or less correct and proper on the basics, but overall you get to see the liberal and left leaning bias of the authors as they give examples using past and current politics. Anyway, what do you else will expect from the overwhelming left leaning academia of today?

I had to read this for an intro to American government class, and while I didn't love the class, the textbook was okay. It was easy to comprehend and didn't constantly bore me to death. I obviously would never choose to read it, but it's definitely one of the better textbooks out there.
