Reading or using this book was for me a challenge because it is not in my native language, and it opened my eyes in many ways. Reading the book of Acts itself opened my eyes in many ways also.
First about the book. It is diveded into little pieces. I used it during my private time each day with the Lord, and it took me around 30-45 minutes per day. The chapters contain the part of Acts in two translations (but I used a dutch translation), an introduction, then an explanation verse by verse and then a practical conclusion. You get explanation of the original language also and some parts of the diary of Charles Swindoll, wich I liked because it gives a personal note. The book is very thorough, so you can learn a lot from it.
The book of Acts opened my eyes. For me it was a book with a lot of beautiful stories, like a history book, and of course that is true. But I discovered that there is a big connection with the Old Testament, not once or twice but multiple times. Today I wrote in my diary "if there is something I have learned from the book of Acts then I would mention the connection between the Old and New Testament, therefore the Old Testament is important to me. There is also a connection with the here and now, even with me personally. I can learn about reaching out to others, how to handle opposition, how to get out of my comfort zone.
