Annotations explained: A workbook

Rate this book
From the Introduction:
The booklet starts with a section on aspects of meaning, ie. of the overall effect an utterance has on us. The aim here is to help you focusand analyse your own knowledge of meaning and decide on how to put it into words. This will prepare you for the next section, which deals with the actual writing of annotations. If you have studied linguistics, the section on meaning will probably seem like 'old hat' to you; if you haven't, you may feel it is rather too abstract for your taste. However, it is this 'making abstract' of practical activities and 'making conscious' of unconcious activities, which forms the basis of the whole annotations exercise. So do not be put off but take things step by step.
