Stripped by G. Elmer Munson is a novel about captivity, torture, betrayal and eventual redemption and revenge. We are taken on a harrowing journey into the degenerate underworld of society, a place where human rights do not exist, and the only laws are those made by your captors. Stripped does not pull any punches, in places it is brutal and disturbing, uncomfortable reading for those faint of heart, yet it must be stressed that these trials are necessary to give weight to the tale's grand finale, which will have you on the edge of your seat.

First two disclaimers: 1. I was given a copy of this book for review 2. Normally, I would not read this type of book. My horror usually has to have some supernatural element to it, and I bypass the suspense genre completely. Those two things said, I only have good things to say about G. Elmer Munson's horror/suspense novel, Stripped. Our plucky protaganist is Paula, a down and out girl with little education and less prospects. The novel opens with her witnessing the brutal murder of her boyfriend (a fellow ex-carney) and going on the run from a couple of murderous thugs. After nail-biting scenes of violence and chase, our heroine finds herself in a very realistic hell where slave strippers dance, are used and abused. The plot is direct, but with enough twists to really keep you reading. The characters are frighteningly believable. Munson is able to create this very possible scenario using a no-nonsense approach to verbiage and dialogue. The horrors will haunt you, which throws into juxtaposition the character of this relentlessly hopefull woman who endures every kind of depravity, but still finds the hutzpah to survive, and even more... but I'm not telling. The ride is too fast, and too fun with this one. You need to take it yourself. If you don't shy away from brutal descriptions of the most horrific caliber, then this novel will have you turning the page to see just what more can spill from Mr. Munson's incredibly creative mind. Has this novel sold me on this kind of novel? Not really, but it has sold me on G. Elmer Munson, and I look forward with anticipation to his next work (put a vampire or a zombie in the next one, please!)I'm afraid Mr. Munson's depictions and characterizations are a little too realistic. I'm not sure I want to believe that humans can treat each other this way, although I know they can. It is the strength of Munson's unflinching flair that really high lights this dark and perilous tale.

Generally, you never know just what to expect from a book until you get a few chapters into it. This read only takes a few paragraphs to nailed you in your seat and take you on a wild ride.

Stripped is a bare knuckle, hard hitting novel bringing you into the world of Paula as she is forced into servitude to pay off a debt. G. Elmer Munson creates a terrific blend of horror and suspense grabbing your emotions and bending them at will. It kept me at the edge of my seat the whole way.

The villains in the story are tough. Engaging even, in a pathetic sort of way. Paula's will to live is pitted against insurmountable adversity in a day by day struggle. She eventually ends up as a working girl in a strip club along with several other women suffering similar misfortune. At the end of her rope, she risks it all by teaming up with Diamond, a sister dancer, for one final chance for salvation.

G. Elmer Munson delivers everything a reader needs for top notch entertainment. Be sure to add this gem to your collection.

A well-written, horrifying tale of a woman who is trapped in a cell, forced to dance at a strip club to pay off a family debt. I wouldn't have put it down if not for having to go to work. There's a great deal of violence, and some seriously squeamish moments. Definitely worth picking up!
