Living Bliss: Major Discoveries Along the Holistic Path

Rate this book
Almost a century of research has shown that the most conscientious individuals enjoy longer and healthier lives. The crucial feature of conscientiousness is being organized and responsible, which are the traits that contribute most to society in general. Unfortunately, some individuals fail to achieve their greatest potential because they did not establish the nurturing, bonding system that is most essential for health, happiness, and success. In this book, you will find the tools to optimize your self-esteem, health, and longevity.

In the 1960s, the use of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) took acupuncture to a new level, revolutionizing pain management. Now the most important acupuncture advancement in 4,000 years is the activation of the hormone oxytocin without needles or electrical stimulation. By using essential oils on acupuncture points, you will create the "bliss" that enables you to fulfill your potential for conscientious living.

Based on research of the past two decades, it is now possible for you to activate five specific acupuncture circuits. Using this method, you
•Restore dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), the most important health-enhancing hormone
•Boost your calcitonin, the essential thyroid hormone for maintaining bone strength and reducing pain
•Reduce free radicals, the scavengers that essentially wear out or "rust" your body
•Balance your aldosterone, the adrenal hormone responsible for water and potassium health
•Activate your crucial bonding, nurturing hormone—oxytocin—the ultimate bliss hormone!

Using specific blends of natural essential oils, you can do your own transcutaneous acupuncture—with no needles and in only 30 seconds! This is a powerful path to conscientious living that enables you to live a longer, healthier, and happier life—helping yourself, and, as a result, helping others.

This book needed an editor badly.

It was a mix of rambling personal narratives, unsupported opinion, and sales pitch for health products inspired by medical intuition. I'm no sceptic, but, wow. That's a mishmash.

The key idea - that conscientiousness = health - is great and sound, but he has nothing new to say about it. It's good, you should strive for it, that's it. Nothing new.

Sound idea, poor execution, is why it's not one star.

While Dr. Shealy seems to be an amazing physician and quite the human specimen on paper, the claims he makes seem far fetched and I remain skeptical after finishing this book of his and having had time to ruminate still remain so.
However, the core principles that he espouses, such as striving to be more productive and conscientious, working hard, and his supplement recommendations I think are very curious.
I believe it isn't a huge issue to recite them in this review since it's a short summary anyway:
For a daily stack, he recommends:

• **B complex** (25 mg daily) and some trace minerals—critical
for brain and nerve function.
• **Magnesium lotion** (2 teaspoons twice daily on the
skin)—this is essential to 350 different enzymes in the body,
and it’s absorbed far more effectively through the skin than
by swallowing a capsule.
• **Astaxanthin** (10 mg daily)—this is the single best overall
antioxidant.
• **Vitamin D3** (50,000 units once a week)—the single best
boost to immune function. Doing this will prevent at least 80
percent of viral infections!
• **Omega-3** (1,000 to 2,000 mg daily)—this is essential for
artery and brain function.
• **Lithium orotate** (15 to 20 mg daily)—essential for serotonin
optimization, this stabilizes mood and helps deal with
trauma.""

(if this is a violation of copyright please contact me and I will edit this review to remove that content. I sincerely do not believe this should be the case but thought it wise to disclaim.)

Aside from that, I found the electromagnetic devices fascinating but having taken a cursory look at the literature myself, find studies showing a benefit beyond placebo lacking, actually. So I think they might just be very expensive toys :D probably not harmful but you could glean the same benefits from things like getting natural sunlight in the morning sunrise and evening sunset.
As for his Bliss oils, well, I'd imagine they are just his patent blends of essential oils and carrier oils. So, while very cool, I'm extremely skeptical of these "circuits" that he claims to have developed. However, I remain open-minded and if I see convincing anecdotal or RCT data, I will 100% change my mind. Hoping to see these areas in "energy medicine" get more mainstream study exposure.

As for his work in telomere regeneration, hormonal enhancement with DHEA and the neuropeptide oxytocin, and pain treament, I think these are all extremely fascinating and I wish our doctors and scientists looked into his methods more. We would all benefit if they were to be validated.

tl;dr
Read it but take contents with grains of salt.

There were a few chapters that I absolutely loved and others that bored me to tears -- maybe because I've read a lot of his other books.

This read is for beginners who are looking into Holistic Medicine. There were some good reminders of practices which made the book valuable to me and why I rated it a four.

Dr. Shealy does a good job reminding us how our thoughts, feelings, and emotions play a large part in our Health.

Sorry but I added the wrong book. This is obviously not in English so I can't even read it. My bad.
