i wanted to love this book. its about a mom and motorcycle racing, what could be better?
the art for one. looks like don heck inked by a fanzine artist.
the writing needed an editor to look over it before publication. "She walked toward the ambulance, then fell, so the crew put her on a gurney to take her to the hospital." apparently she didn't need the ambulance to take her. there are seven blank pages in the back of the book beacause...? and the three other women riders his mother inspired aren't named even though they're mentioned.
this does make me realize how much i'd like to see picture books of janet guthrie, lyn st. james and kathy sutton.
