There is a deep peace that can be found in the quiet of the night ... resting from the demands of work, family, friends and pondering the activities of the day. It is a great time to share those cherished moments with the One who loves you most.
Good Night, God is a night time devotional that offers you a collection of inspiring scriptures, true-to-life stories, and encouraging reflections to help you draw near to the heart of God and experience His life-changing grace. As you turn your focus from the day's events you will discover calm rest in God's precious promises and enjoy refreshment in His unfailing presence.

I have been persisting with this devotional because I didn't want another did not finish on my shelf. But after reading a devotion that said brief, three word prayers aren't good enough, I'm throwing the towel in. There were several lovely devotions in this book that were encouraging and helpful. However there were also many devotions that were a flop. The worst of these used the story of the bombing of Japan to make what I assume was intended to be an encouraging analogy. I found this devotion incredibly inappropriate and offensive. Something that I found unusual in this devotional were the number of devotions taken (some completely and some with adaptation) from other books/magazines. I've seen other writers include quotes, but I've never seen them use another's work in its apparent entirety. I recommend readers look past this devotional to a different book. There's plenty out there.
I had never read a short devotional like this before going to bed. I had always read my Bible and the only daily devotional book I had ever read was My Utmost for His Highest. So my experience with devo books had been good as that devo book is solid. This book on the other hand was one of the worst Christian books I have ever read in my life. There were a few devos here and there that were decent and thought provoking, but the vast majority were either weak or downright unscriptural. This book didn't encourage me to walk closer to Christ but often just frustrated me with its poor theology and the way it often made God out to be my janitor, shoulder to cry on, and personal cheerleader. God does desire for us to succeed, comforts us, and cleans up our sinful mess of a life through Christ; however, this book was written more for the Joel Osteen follower than a Christ follower. I finished the book because I hate quitting books and it only took 2-3 minutes a day to get through it, but I am not the better for having finished it.
Once again, if you are looking for a nighttime devo, I'd encourage you to look away from this and pick up your Bible and read a chapter or a even just a paragraph before going to sleep. That is what I was doing before when I thought I would try something different for a bit by reading this book, but it is what I will return to now.
I have to begin a disclaimer ... I did not find this book very interesting nor particularly did I gain much from it - but it is a book designed to read at bedtime. As such, it should not be energizing, exciting, nor a page turner. The chapters are varied and unrelated, which is good. Each chapter has some story, some were heart touching. Each chapter ends with a Scripture to contemplate. So, I don't know whether to recommend the book or not. I have read similar books that left me with something to think about without jolting my mind back into action as I'm trying to wind down. This book didn't really engage me that way. So I gave it three stars because I did really like some of the chapters, but by and large it was not very substantive.
This was a nice little devotional book, intended to read right before going to bed each night. Each reading is quite brief, never more than two pages, usually about a page and a half. The readings are designed to help you reflect on your day as you get ready to rest and restore energy for the next day's work.
It's not a year's worth of devotions, and if I had been faithful to remember to read it every night, I would have been finished several months ago. I recommend this for a light devotional reading each night, never anything heavy or ponderous.
Nice to have a devotional aimed at evening - or perhaps to be more precise - bed time. Luther stressed the value of morning and evening prayer, but often our devotional material is aimed at the day ahead - rather than to lead us into restful sleep.
Overall I think this book does a good job of this. Individual devotionals do vary - whilst I don't think there was really a "bad one", there were definitely some very good ones!
Could do with being longer - or having more volumes :)
I didn't give it 5 stars because some of the stories were not complete, and l did not like that. But on the whole the book Was very good. I hated to see it end.
