Lalaloopsy: Cinder Slippers and the Grand Ball

Fairytale characters have arrived in Lalaloopsy Land!

Cinder Slippers is hosting Lalaloopsy Land's first-ever fairytale ball, and she insists there is only one way to do fancy food, elegant music, perfect manners, and dazzling dresses. When it comes time for the ball, Cinder is surprised that no one is having any fun. Scarlet Riding Hood explains that it's because everyone is afraid of doing something wrong. Scarlet suggests that the party would be more fun if everyone could just be themselves. In the end, it's not the ball Cinder imagined, but everyone's having a great time--even Cinder!

Read this to my daughter. The story is cute and the message it delivers is great. We thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm glad they explain what a ball is, because it's definitely not an everyday word... Or a word used outside of fairy tales anymore. Its also fun to match characters with fairytale characters.

I was impressed with this book. Usually TV tie-ins are just recaps of the show. This had a simple plot and story line that did not feature the major characters from the show. What was cool was that all the characters were based on fairy tales. Literary allusions are always cool, but it was also cool seeing them translated into the Lalaoopsies.

This was actually a really good story for a little girl. Cinder is being bossy, so none of her friends showed up to her ball. Cinder has to apologize and compromise.
My daughter took this very seriously, but she also enjoyed the characters. She got quite a laugh out of their names being different than the fairytale characters.
