When she is not rescuing animals from the many things they can get into on their own, she and her husband are raising three children, who are as much or more interested in creatures as she is.
Daisy is the author of the Samantha Series of Chapter Books.
This story is absolutely fun and adorable when a few girls learn what it takes to hatch a few eggs into chicks. Each new chapter builds excitement and few of life's lessons are taught along the way by life on the farm. Some very nice illustrations go along with the story as well. I highly recommend this book for any middle grader. A fantastic kindle freebie find.
Samantha series of books by Daisy Griffin is one of my favourite finds. So much of educational tidbits woven into a story which depicts children as children, not angels. My kids and I all love it. My daughter's favourite is the baby Michelle!
This chapter book with black and white illustrations is a perfect choice for young readers who love animals. Samantha and her friend, Gerti have recently joined the 4 H Club. When they visit Sally's farm, they pick up a few eggs and decide that they want to raise chickens. Samantha convinces their mom to help. Samantha, her sister, Sophie, and Gerti detail the process of securing an incubator, marking the eggs, feeding and building a chicken coop.
The book features warm family relationships, a little humor, problem-solving challenges and learning responsibility. I would recommend the book for beginning readers and middle-grade students.
