so thankful my therapist suggested this one. I used a bunch of the little highlighted sticky notes to mark places that I resonated with. I'll be coming back to this one a lot.
5.0 out of 5 stars Life Changing Reviewed in the United States on June 5, 2010 Verified Purchase Janice Berger's deep emotional processing therapy is taking me on a healing journey as no other therapy has and I have tried many. The premise is so simple, we allow ourselves to feel all of the feelings we were afraid to feel throughout our lives. Each time we feel a stuck emotion we are connecting more and more with who we are and begin to feel grounded and whole. For the first time in my life I am free of over-whelming anxiety and depression. I have learned that each time I am feeling depressed, I need to take time to feel what is trying to surface. When I do this my depression lifts. This therapy is not a quick fix but it works and will change your life. We are taught to heal ourselves using our own innate healing power. So simple, so authentic, helpful, and makes sense. I wish I had discovered this therapy many years ago but I know the rest of my life will be much different because of this book and its wisdom. I am a better mother, friend, daughter, human because of the wholeness I have gained from this therapy. Give yourself a gift, this book will change your life.
An excellent audio discussion of the important concepts of therapy and personal growth. Janice Berger presents these ideas clearly and makes them accessible for anybody wishing to deal with unresolved issues from the past. Highly recommended.
2.5. Read this book because I have coworkers who recommend it to their clients. The premise is basically, "feel your feelings - don't fear your feelings." It's far too long for a narrow and somewhat idiosyncratic therapeutic approach - it's also hilariously normy - but I do appreciate the emphasis on supporting oneself and others to notice, find meaning in, and deeply experience emotionality rather than relying completely on behavioural or self-management approaches.
