Seventeen-year-old Annabel Conway is tired of the Hillcrest High School elite making her life miserable because she’s not a size two. This summer, she's hiring a personal trainer to help her lose weight.

Annabel doesn’t expect her trainer to be a gorgeous guy around her age. Boys like Tegan are jerks. They pretend to like girls like her so they can make an idiot out of the

Wow Just Wow!

I LOVE this author.I LOVE this book.

This is my third book by Nyrae and I have now come to the realization that if I want to sleep then I shouldn't pick up one of her books. All three have been read in one sitting.

This is the first of hers that I have read from a girls POV and it did not disappoint!

As a curvy girl myself I could totally relate to Annabell and how she was feeling. And as for Tegan....swoon doesn't even come close. He is now my No 1 Book Boyfriend, just a wonderfully w

The Cover
What is worse than faces/people on the cover? People who don’t look like the characters described in the book and are PDA-ing (yes, I’m aware that this is not a word). Good thing I have this in ebook format because I really don’t want to be seen with it in public. This is one of the cases of “Don’t judge a book by its cover” though so I’m going to forgive it because the book is so great.

YAY! Annabel and Tegan's story! :-) This is one of those books where the MC's voice will have you totally giggling, while the overall message is a serious one. It's adorable, heart-warming, and important.

Aww...This book was so adorable!! I was a bit afraid to read this but it worked out really well.

In the beginning I thought I wouldn't like the heroine. She was insecure and wanted to please everyone else. I usually dislike girls without a backbone, especially when it seemed that to do anything she needed Tegan's encouraging. But Annabel evolved during the book. She began to lose weight to fit in but in the end she did it just for herself. She learned to stand up for what she wants, with

I can't say enough good things about Measuring Up. I'm a huge fan of Nyrae Dawn's writing anyway but I think she's really tapped into something with this book.

All women (& probably men too) live with insecurities about their bodies or some aspect of their life. In Annabel's case it's her weight. Nyrae writes about her struggles with humor and honesty.

Annabele Conway has to deal with her mom's unrealistic expectations and harsh judgments, her best friend's well meaning sabotaging behavior and
This was a story about a real girl named Anabell. She was so relatable. It was a story not just about her weightloss, but finding and accepting herself.
I just have to say, Nyrae Dawn sure knows how to write boys... Tegan was great... I know he was not perfect but he was close.
The message of the book is one everyone should hear: you have to love and accept you first and foremost. Relationships should be about loving someone and wanting to be with someone not needing them. A sweet, positive and i

Love Annabel.
Love Tegan.

This book is equal parts funny, sweet, sexy and heartbreaking.

After reading the awesomeness that is What A Boy Wants What A Boy Needsand Freeing Carter
I decided to give this a go.
I was not disappointed!

This is a YA Romance, but it is has hidden meanings. Ie- your beautiful the way your are. Friendship. Family etc.

Annabel Conway is rich. She goes to a private school. Trouble is, she only has one friend and is picked on at school as she is not a size 2.
She decides over the summer to change that and joins a gym on the other side of town so no-

As a fellow chubby girl, I really wanted to love this story. I did. The writing was pretty clean. I liked the leading man--I just didn't like the protagonist. She bothered me for some reason. She just assumed so many things and I couldn't figure out what the lead liked about her. She wasn't very personable, she seemed kind of bumbling, she wasn't exactly that witty, and she had horrible mood swings. I didn't get the appeal. It made the story feel like someone's day dream instead of contemporary ...more

Okay I'm just going to bust out and say it. Nyrae Dawn is a Goddess. Every book of hers is a masterpiece. I thought nothing could be as good as Freeing Carter, but this is. A wonderful book about learning to love yourself, learning who you are, and learning to tune out all the voices telling you that you are not enough. Just an amazing book, a one sitting wonder you cannot put down.

This woman is going to be a household name, it is absurd she is not already.

Once again, Nyrae Dawn has crafted beautiful, well fleshed out, believable characters that you CARE about and are aching for and cheering for the entire book. This is a gorgeous, important book. Well done, Nyrae!

3.5 stars But Gets the 4 Star Bump For The Reminder That Not Being 17 Anymore Is Righteous!

This was a sweet, quick and funny book about 17 year old Annabel who's been told by almost everyone around her she just doesn't measure up. Hot manboy Tegan is the personal trainer who's made it his mission to help Annabel get to her happy place weight wise.

I liked that fact that Tegan was into Annabel pre-weightloss. He wanted to help her lose the weight because it was important to her, not because he tho
Jennifer I read this book in 1 day. I couldn't put it down. I truly enjoyed this book, I think it is because I can relate to Annabel. I have always struggled with my weight and the friction between her and her mom I could totally connect with. I had my troubles with my mom, but I always knew she loved me, I felt so bad for Annabel for not ever really knowing if your mom loves her. I thought Annabel and Tegan's love story was great. It blossomed over time and it gave us readers time to apprecia ...more

I loved that this book covered some “weighty” issues, bullying, first loves and parental issues. The creativity of it set it apart from other YA Romances I have read lately. I really loved that the handsome young trainer, Tegan, didn’t wait until Annabel was “skinny” before starting to fall for her. Not everything is about outward appearance and this book proved that!

My heart broke for Annabel; she was treated horribly at school because of her weight issues and when she was home her mom wasn’t a

I've only read one book by Nyrae Dawn and although I didn't love it, I didn't hate it either. I liked it enough to be curious about her other offerings and what else she can bring to the table.

So...I read this book, and...

...This book rocks!!

There's no other way to put it really. I absolutely LOVED it! One book, one day, loved, loved, loved...

The story was great, the characters wonderful, and the pacing just right. I loved reading this book from Annabel's POV. She was a wonderfully funn

** Would give this 3.5-stars, but am rounding up to 4-stars.**

A sweet, inspiring story of love and finding one's self, Measuring Up is sure to touch your heart.

Annabel Conway is desperate. Tired of facing the bullies at school, those who taunt her because of her weight, she enrolls at a gym across town from her elite neighborhood. She's hoping to get a female trainer, but she gets Tegan. Tegan who looks like all the boys who've made fun of her. Tegan who is impossibly handsome, and sure to look

So obviously I am a major fan of Nyrae Dawn, I swear it’s like I totally have a girl crush! One of the things I love most about her is the topics she tackles to write about. Each issue in every one of her books is something relatable. She drew me in with WABW and WABN, to totally speechless in Freeing Carter, all to build up to Measuring Up. Yes, Nyrae has a new book out! Girls you have to read it, because at one point, even if you don’t admit it, we have all been there. I knew from the moment ...more

I really like this book because it's a light read and I also enjoyed all the characters! But what really made me to want to read this is because of the cover! Haha! The guy in the cover is a hottie, I couldn't stop myself staring. Haha! Anyway, this book is such a breather to me, after reading a roller coaster one. I'm glad I finally decided to read it, since it has been in my ebook shelf for a long time! I like the cute characters, especially Annabel Lee and Teagan. Wait, I have to admit that I ...more
Measuring Up touched my heart. It’s gut wrenching, along with inspirational, hopeful, and sweet. Annabel has been torn down by others (especially her mom!) because of something as trivial as her weight. Why some people feel the need to belittle and humiliate others is beyond me. Her confidence level is nonexistent. Her motivation for change, however, is about to get a boost.

Annabel joins a gym and signs up for a personal trainer. In walks the devastatingly gorgeous, Tegan. Judging by his hotness

This book is so cute and lovely. I'm so glad I gave it a shot.

I don't know if it's just me... but I really felt as if the characters were real. There were lots of insecurities, drama and past issues and still... this one kept me entertained with its light humor and fun convo's. I LOVE IT. Both characters were lovable. Even with their own personal issues, I sure grew to love Tegan and Annabel. Tegan is a VERY VERY VERY VERY responsible young man while Annabel is a VERY VERY VERY insecure girl. Th

Bravo Nyrae, a book that not only could I not wait to finish, but one that reminds those that read, that well 1) all have struggles 2)skinny doesn't mean beautiful 3)the most powerful thing you can do for yourself is believe and depend on YOURSELF 4)Love is unconditional and forgiving and blind.
Like I said in my progress update, this book immediately caught my attention and held me to the characters. I understood Annabel and her struggles and have been there done that... course for me I didn't g

Once again, I have to say Nyrae Dawn did it!. This was such a beautiful story, with a great message for everyone. What I loved the most is that it shows that in order to love someone, you have to love yourself first. No one will make you feel good if you are not ok within your own skin. I loved that both main characters throughout the book grew, and accepted each other for what they are, and not for how they look. Looks dissapear with the years, and what's real is what is inside you.

I really enjoyed this book! Sure it was a little cheesy, sappy but it in a good way. I thought it was a really sweet story and I loved the characters. One of the best female protags I've read in YA contemporary in a long time, she was just incredibly likeable. And Tegan? Wow, major book boyfriend material-love him. I fell for the whole thing-hook, line and sinker and bookmarked the hell out of it! Yes, there were some editing issues and some of the writing didn't flow quite right but in this cas ...more

Annabel. I couldn't help but love Annabel. How many of us (especially woman) haven't hated something about ourselves, especially in high school. Whether it was our weight or our height. Our looks, our clothes, what we drove, where we lived, maybe even our family. Being a teenager is a tough time, esp
