This is a short but really interesting story that is predominantly an interview between Detective Wells and Mr Bradley. After being part of the three person team to create the most popular current online multiplayer game ever, Mr Bradley escapes from everyday life. Living in isolation in a barricaded castle-like home, without even common electricity or any modern amenities, it’s clear the Detective wants answers and Mr Bradley is unwilling to divulge his secrets.

Written in the first person, this was an very cool piece. The protagonist is personable and easy to identify with. He’s got a man’s self-confidence and easy prose, the author giving full justification behind his arrogance. My favourite comment was: “I likened it to the British Secret Intelligence. For routine problems, any of the double-oh’s would suffice. But for true shit-storms, you only rang up Bond.” Even though the plot was simple, I thoroughly enjoyed this story and found it an excellent piece of work.

Although this doesn’t have the traditional happy ending, this is a fantastic gamer/fantasy novella, excellently written and deeply satisfying.

For any one who is a gamer this book is a short quick read and well worth your time. Heck you can read it while you are waiting for your instance to queue up. Okay its not that quick. Its a sci fi horror thriller that really will have you wondering just what they did.

I am usually a romance reader but this one drew me in and I couldn't put it down. I even read it a second time to make sure I didn't miss anything the first time.

I received a copy for an honest review.

When Mason Bradley gets a knock on his thickly sealed steal door he already knows what it’s about. Even while living as a hermit for the last couple years he knows what’s happening. The detective just confirms what he had already suspected.

When Detective Wells enters Mason Bradley’s all but medieval home with thickly protected widows’ doors and no electronics he can’t help but wonder what happened to this man who was and still is the most famous game designer with his three best friends in the world. When all three of them drop off the radar hours after the game went viral.

What only the three creators knew was what happened after the game went live. A simple error and lack of time now put the three designers in danger, so they fled. Too bad what the spent so hard hiding from has finally found them.

Multiplayer is a great short story. Multiplayer is definitely unique and like nothing I've ever read. The story gives a lot of detail and back story that leads up to how all three gamers got into the situation they did and I thought that was great. I am so appreciative that I got the opportunity to read this and I hope you can check out this cheap short story.
