As she starts reading the old book in front of her, she finds that someone has defaced it by scribbling random letters across the bottom of the pages. Upon closer examination of the random letters, a chill suddenly ran down her spine as she realized that what she was looking at was actually a code!
Follow Pepper and her mysterious partner Jacob Longstreet as they unravel a code that leads them on an unexpected adventure into the past!

Mystery abounds in the books of Amazon Best Selling Author J.T. Lewis.

Living in Southeast Indiana, J.T. has always loved a mystery. Striving to bring readers a story packed full of action, adventure, and suspense has led to his current selection of titles.

His first full length novel, Murder! Too Close To Home, has been voted #1 on Goodreads Best Debut Mystery Series list. Since then JT's many novels have taken off, bringing readers action and adventure at every turn.

Also look for JT Lewis' Pepper and Longstreet YA mystery series. Having been compared to the old Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew mysteries, Pepper and Longstreet at first seem an unlikely duo.

Having discovered Jacob Longstreet standing in her kitchen one day, the ghost of a Civil War solder soon becomes Pepper's friend, as well as her partner in solving mysteries. Together, they find themselves in the most unlikely of situations as mysteries unfold around them.

An electrician by trade, at night JT Lewis morphs into a fictional detective with a keyboard, a transition that suits his need for creating exciting stories very much.

this is my favorite book of the series because it was so fun, sweet with a romantic touch to it! Pepper & Longstreet is the best series since Nancy Drew and i can't wait to read the next book to see what new adventures it will bring to us!

In The Mystery of the Rose, we find our awesome teenaged heroine, Pepper, in a common teenage state of mind. Bored. Hoping to alleviate her need for a mystery she opens up an old Nancy Drew novel and begins a mystery that started ages before she was born.

Pepper, a new wonderfuly young octogenarian friend and Longstreet together traverse one exciting step after another to a goose-bumping conclusion!

J.T. Lewis has done it again! I loved it and you will too!

"The Mystery of the Rose" is #5 in the "Pepper and Longstreet" series. It is also a very special story to the author, as he lost his son while writing this story. "The Mystery of the Rose" is dedicated to his son, Tristan Lewis. Perhaps that is the reason this particular story really stands a head and shoulders above the rest of the "Pepper and Longstreet" stories, and is my personal favorite.

In "The Mystery of the Rose" we find Pepper in the local library, reading a Nancy Drew book, and wishing she could get a case as exciting as the one Nancy Drew is on. Turning a page, she finds that someone has scribbled something on the bottom of the page, to which she mumbles that people just don't respect property. Later she finds another page scribbled on, eventually finding such markings throughout the book.

Once again her 6th sense kicks into action, and she wonders if she hasn't stumbled upon a code. With help from the librarian she is finally able to discover who the coded message has directed her to, and what she is supposed to say when she locates that person.

This is really a very exciting story. I don't want to give away any more than I already have, but if you want to get a taste of J.T. Lewis' writing without springing for the entire collection, this is the story you should download. I'm fairly confident that if you do, your next download will be the collection which includes all the "Pepper and Longstreet" episodes.

I definitely recommend this story - and the whole collection - to all fans of Young Adult mystery, whether they be 10 or 100 years old.
