This is another delightfully dated American Girl book from the mid-nineties. It shares creative ideas for altering jeans and a variety of other garments, with clear step-by-step instructions for sewing embellishments, using bleach, tie-dyeing, etc. Some of the examples look very dated, but others are timeless, and all of the ideas can be adapted to current trends.

Like all American Girl craft books, this one indicates when a child will need adult help or supervision, but I wish that the book had explicitly stated that kids shouldn't alter their clothing without parental consent. The author probably assumed that this was implied, but I can only imagine the horror of coming home from work to discover that your child has cut and messily embroidered their jeans that you paid $30 for, or whatever jeans cost in 1996.

LOVE ❤️ so this book is dated. American Gitl was Pleasant Company Publications. The girls pictured in this book are probably grandparents by now, but I love it. I’m going to try out some of these retro crafts and jazz up my wardrobe. For real though I am going to do the flip flop 🩴 thing. :)

Super cute book that made us want to make all the "Jazzy" crafts in this book.
Even though we found out this book was published in 1996, it it still relevant today.
