(Fiction) A heartbreak story, full of nostalgia and melancholy. From the back cover: "This is the one about the girl who got away, for good and forever, and the girl I pushed away, which was better for both of us."
Jack Beltane's novels are not love stories, exactly, because they're full of mistakes and heartbreak. They're stories about people and how people interact with each other and how people so very often screw up. They're about loss and regret and melancholy--and love. If the Cure wrote novels instead of recorded albums, it would probably end up close to Beltane's books. His writing style is natural, constantly toeing the line between conversational and poetic.

Enjoyed the scenes that took place in familiar Cleveland locations. A very intimate read, like a private journal found hidden in the basement of an old, blue country house. A nice combination of Jack Kerouac, Nicholas Sparks and Andy Rooney.
A book of ideas, a book of love. The latter the framework. A touch over sentimental at times but I could easily forgive this as the writing came straight from the authors heart. Intimate and moving. I will certainly read the next one!
