Adrian Martin offers a new appreciation of these cult No other Australian films have influenced world cinema and popular culture as widely and lastingly as George Miller s Mad Max movies , writes Adrian.
Really disappointing. Since this is the only film criticism book I've ever seen on the Mad Max Trilogy (one of my favorite series of films), I was expecting something special. I didn't get it.
For starters, this book, minus introduction and bibliography, was only 64 pages long. For something the author describes as the most influential Australian films ever made, this seems like a pretty weak effort. However, if the criticism had been really good, the brevity could have been forgiven. It was not. It seemed like a quick collection of film criticism buzzwords hastily applied to the Mad Max films.
This is a great film series that deserves a better, more in-depth look. At least I got this through Interlibrary loan and didn't spend $15 on it.
