"A powerful testimony! Chip Huber is willing to allow Jesus to mess up his own life in order to transform the lives of others. The world needs more Chip Hubers." Rich Stearns President of World Vision US and author of The Hole in Our Gospel
"For all of us who tend to stay stuck in our own little corner of the world...this book is a real eye opener. My friend and colleague Chip Huber thought that he was bringing life changing blessings to Zambians only to find that God was using the Zambians to stretch his faith and change his life! This book reminds us in a riveting way of the reasons that God has called us to live beyond the boundaries of ourselves and our familiar surroundings! A must read!" Dr. Joe Stowell President of Cornerstone University (MI)
"The students of Wheaton Academy are rock stars to hundreds of kids around the world! Chip Huber’s passion for leadership development transformed young leaders in Kakolo, Zambia, West Chicago, Illinois, and wherever their story has been told. He did so by bringing communities together to build relationships and to play soccer. And in the meantime, they raised hundreds of thousands of dollars, built schools, and provided food for the hungry and water to the thirsty. Children all over the globe now say 'Just do it'!" Mike Mantel President & CEO of Living Water International
"Chip is a role model of what it means to lead the next generation to help change the world. And The Zambia Project is the manual. Imagine if every high school, college, and church acted this way—the world would look very different." James Pedrick & Kurt Rahn World Vision
Over the course of 7 years while working at Wheaton Academy, a private Christian school near Chicago, Chip Huber facilitated groups of students as they raised over $500k for Kakolo village in Zambia. The students first learned of the need for a school as they looked through a World Vision catalog. The God-sized need for a school gripped them and they determined to take it on. They did so – and then some! Not only did they make a difference in the lives of a village ravaged by AIDS/HIV, their own lives were changed. I wanted to like this so much more than I did. Don't get me wrong - I'm not putting down the work that God did and the lives that were affected. It started out good: how the project came about, how the students took the idea and ran with it, and how it exceeded expectations. But I would have liked to read more of the perspective from the Zambians. The back cover speaks of "friendship and partnership developed between a high school community near Chicago and a village community in Zambia" but it seemed as if the entire book was from the American perspective.
This book challenges me (in a good way)..... I was allowed to tag along on one of the trips to Zambia with Wheaton Academy. This was a life changing event in my life.... Chip captures the spirit/emotions of the project in this book.
