Losing your mind in the 21st century seems to make a lot of sense in Oakland, CA, especially the way the early 2020s are going. Valeria isn't surprised as much as inspired when it happens to her shortly after her 30th birthday. Beginning with a case of self defense against two trigger happy cops, Valeria takes to the Oakland streets, with her husband as sidekick, to clean them up. She's not sure why, but the killings are satisfying her in ways she doesn't fully understand. Wracked with sleepless nights and a lost memory about her childhood, Valeria finds comfort in her vigilante justice. Something her girlfriend finds disturbing, to say the least. With the help of her best friends, Valeria hopes to save as many people as she can before getting caught. Which could be a very long time, as long as one detective named Pike stays off her trail. He believes he's on to a serial killer. Nobody believes him. Can Pike stop her from killing more men all by himself? And will he want to if he finally finds her? This is the first book of Valeria's journey to her past and future, where she finds her hidden childhood, that she has a seemingly well honed talent for murder and that not all enemies have to stay that way.

Micaela currently lives in what she is told is a shithole apartment in Berkeley, CA. When not writing she can be found around the Bay Area causing trouble as a coffee enabler and aspiring astronaut. She is also barely known for her perverse paintings and performances as an experimental drummer and noisemaker playing in various ensembles under the names Sophisticuffs, Love Mustard, Crackhead Millionaire, Proto-Mammoth, Slutfucker and others. Some of her stranger obsessions include midgets with their tiny, tiny hands, Bonobo monkeys, amputees, the rings of Saturn, geodesic domes, knee socks, chickens, and the insanity of mathematicians.

She recently self-published her first novel, Super Sapien, under her tiny company Sto*Nerd Press, which also put out it's first anthology this year called Respect the Daysleeper, both available on amazon!
She also co-edits, writes and draws the fanzine The Blunt Letters which comes out quarterly. Currently she is writing the sequel to her first novel called Signal to Chaos.
Besides her literary endeavors, she is working on a new album with her long time bandmate and husband Jeremy Kearney, and a cookbook with Blunt Letters partner Elle Martinez. She is currently selling all her artworks found online, and will be publishing an art monograph of all her works later in the year. Email her for inquiries about pricing, size and shipping.
You can follow her at micaelapetersen. tumblr.com and Blunt Letters Cartoons on youtube, and of course the facebook, where subscriptions for her quarterly can be purchased. Google it!
