Loving God and taking care of the planet go hand in hand. Here is just one quote that got me interested in the book: "Why, if we evangelical Christians are to be salt and light to a lost and dying humanity, has it taken us so long to recognize that our physical environment is crumbling faster than the technicians can reassemble it? Why are we still wondering whether or not indifference will do as a response? We have certainly emotion enough for the abortion debate, pornography, and prayer in schools. Why are we more or less content to watch the world God made turn into a chemical swamp?" Ouch!
In one chapter the author talks about creation as a witness of God's glory, so in every action we take we should first ask, "Will this act enhance or damage creation's ability to glorify God and to testify to his power to nurture what he has made?"
I found the book very challenging and inspiring. I definitely want to keep making positive changes in my consumerism lifestyle to respect God and his creation.
