Ridiculous. Written by a want to be! They never were a pubic grade teacher in their life.

This book introduces readers to the amazing body of scientifically-based academic curricula known as Direct Instruction. Direct Instruction programs use such principles as shaping, high rates of correct responding, high levels of teacher/student interaction, and structured presentation of skills to be learned. The book covers in detail the following Direct Instruction programs: Reading Mastery, Corrective Reading, Horizons, Journeys, DISTAR Arithmetic, Connecting Math Concepts, Corrective Mathematics, Spelling Mastery, Spelling Through Morphographs, Basic Writing Skills, Cursive Writing, Expressive Writing, Reasoning and Writing.

For all parents, but particularly parents of children with special needs, I would like to point out the outstanding Direct Instruction language programs. The 3-part series consists of these programs: Language for Learning, Language for Thinking, and Language for Writing.

Direct Instruction programs are based on scientific principles of human learning and have 40+ years of research validation showing that they result in superior student learning outcomes. These beautiful, effective programs are a gift to humanity. All our children should be able to have access to these excellent academic curricula.
