Ahna Standards of Holistic Nursing Practice: Guidelines for Caring and Healing

Rate this book
From the Preface of this 228 page "This book is organized to follow the Standards of Holistic Nursing Practice, 3rd Revision, adopted by AHNA in 2000. There are five Core Values, which provide a framework for Holistic Philosophy and Education; Holistic Ethics, Theories, and Research; Holistic Nursing Self-Care; Holistic Communication, Therapeutic Environment and Cultural Diversity; and Holistic Caring Process. Each of these five Core Values is presented as a chapter in this book. We have presented the accepted wording for each Standard of Practice, and defined and described the major concepts inherent in each Standard. We have suggested nursing activities that demonstrate compliance with the Standards. Lastly, through the use of Case Studies, we have prepared examples of nurses in practice who are either meeting or not meeting the Standards. We hope to illustrate all the many challenges involved in nursing practice that is truly holistic."
