Never thought I'd be reading fishing books, but research often takes me to unusual places. This particular fishing book was very informative, made extra interesting by personal anecdotes from the author to give examples of the facts he presented. Mr. Ristori covered everything from types of rods and reels to varieties of fish (and where they may be found) and even gave his advice on whether or not to purchase a boat. He made my research fun and easy to understand. There were some terms I didn't understand, but that may just be because I'm unfamiliar with fishing equipment and lingo as I'm not a fisherwoman. Overall, this book was a great read, and I'd recommend it for people who are interested in learning more about fishing, whether from shore or offshore.

The author has spent his life fishing and has written from his experience in many environments. Half the book is devoted to brief descriptions of different salt water species. The rest of the book covers equipment and techniques with numerous color photos. It does provide a brief if cursory view of the sport of salt water fishing.
