This exciting new book covers every aspect of saltwater fishing so the angler will know where to find the fish, determine when they are feeding, and exactly how to catch them. This is the most authoritative handbook available on saltwater fishing in North America and includes advice on everything from tackle, rods, and reels to choosing lures and tying knots. Expert advice is provided on each species of fish including its habitat, range, average weight, and more. Over 100 black-and-white photographs and 13 illustrations are included.
Never thought I'd be reading fishing books, but research often takes me to unusual places. This particular fishing book was very informative, made extra interesting by personal anecdotes from the author to give examples of the facts he presented. Mr. Ristori covered everything from types of rods and reels to varieties of fish (and where they may be found) and even gave his advice on whether or not to purchase a boat. He made my research fun and easy to understand. There were some terms I didn't understand, but that may just be because I'm unfamiliar with fishing equipment and lingo as I'm not a fisherwoman. Overall, this book was a great read, and I'd recommend it for people who are interested in learning more about fishing, whether from shore or offshore.
The author has spent his life fishing and has written from his experience in many environments. Half the book is devoted to brief descriptions of different salt water species. The rest of the book covers equipment and techniques with numerous color photos. It does provide a brief if cursory view of the sport of salt water fishing.
