Devastated by her recent divorce, Sabrina Matthews returns to her hometown of Savannah, Georgia, with her eight-year-old daughter in tow. I love the family support that Sabrina had after her and Jasmine moved back to her hometown after her divorce with Tre because he was cheating on her with Melanie. Malcolm was dealing with the guilt over his twin brother Michael's death and he moved to start over as well. Two broken people help restore one another and find a true love that neither one of them imagined.
One never knows what the future holds in the romance department. Love comes at the most unexpected time. Love comes when a person has had the most horrible experience. This is what happened to Sabrina and Malcolm found.
Sabrina Parker-Matthews is fresh off a divorce, and after having all that she can stand and no more, she hightails it out of Baltimore to Savannah with her daughter Jasmine in tow, to embrace the comforts of family and to just heal. Meanwhile, in a strange twist of co-incidence, Malcolm Winters has left the teeming cut throat high pressured world of surgery in Boston to come to Savannah and decompress as well as nursing an old guilt.
The two characters meet when Sabrina can't change a flat (I know!) on the side of the road, instant attraction, but dismiss thoughts of seeing each other again, but they do, and the book is a progression of them meeting and then bliss.
My problem with the book was all the 'stock' characters. They came on, said their piece, and left you unmoved. The 'conflicts' that the writer painstakingly sets up are dissolved in one character exchange. Huh?
Boston Heart surgeon Malcolm who is dealing with the devastating lost of his twin brother is hoping that relocating to Savannah, Georgia and taking over a Family practice will help him to come to grips on how to will live w/out brother. Sabrina who is dealing with the break up of a ten year marriage and being a single parent with no job or home. Sabrina is hoping to reconnect with her family in Georgia, hoping to put her life back together. Sabrina and Malcolm are two people living with broken heart's, both who has given up on love. Living in a small town Malcolm and Sabrina are drawn to one another, each helping the other to heal.
I truly enjoyed this story. Ms. St. John has woven a story of love and loss, heartache, pain and recovery. This story included enough depth to allow the reader to get into the minds of the characters, and that was fantastic. I recommend this book to all who love romance.
Another great book, it was intense and irresistible. I completely enjoyed the story of Sabrina and Malcolm. The love at first sight along with the hesitation made their story great.
