Christian Cozy

I love this book and series. The mystery was an interesting one. I love Miss Millie and, in this book, more of her personality is explained. Fortunately, it is as I thought with her. She is one of my favorite characters because she speaks plain, maybe too much, but with love in her heart. She is like some older women I knew as a child. Miss Millie feels real to me. As stated in my title, this is a Christian cozy. Prayer and church activity are included in it as a part of character life. I find, for me, this gives a relaxing atmosphere to the story. There is also a surprise in it. You definitely want to discover it.
If you are looking for a book with a mystery, romance, a fun dog who is included in the story, and a relaxed feel good tone, get this one.

Enjoyable Cozy Mystery

Jamie Rutland Gillespie does not disappoint with Profitng and Murder, book 5 of the Bobwhite Mountain series. The characters are great, lots of adventure, twists and turns, a murder to solve and a couple really special events round out this story. No spoilers here. Can't wait for book six!! Enjoy!

Profiting for Murder is the fifth and, unfortunately, the final installment of the Bobwhite Mountain Cozy Mystery series by Jamie Rutland Gillespie. As a fan of the series, I found myself once again immersed in the quaint world of Bobwhite Mountain, eagerly following Landry and the beloved regulars as they navigate life's twists and turns. One of my favorite moments in this book was Ms. Millie's discovery that her driver's license had expired. Her journey through the bureaucratic hurdles of the DMV was both amusing and entertaining, leading her to realize that some changes were necessary, even if they were changes she had been avoiding throughout the series. Meanwhile, Lisa and Jarred are preparing for their wedding, a task made more challenging for Lisa by Jarred's need for care following his accident. Despite being worn out, Lisa's dedication to Jarred's recovery is truly heartwarming. The sincere narrative surrounding Lisa and Jarred's relationship was incredibly moving, making it easy for me to root for every aspect of their life together.
Adding to the excitement, Annie, Landry's best friend, learns that her bakery, Eating For Pleasure, has won a contest and is to be featured in a popular food magazine. The prospect of an interview and the mystery of who nominated her bakery injects a delightful sense of anticipation into the story. The eventual revelation of the nominator was a joyous moment that left me grinning. However, not all relationships in Bobwhite Mountain are harmonious. Landry’s parents, Claire and Landon, cannot be in the same room without arguing, causing Landry emotional turmoil, a recurring theme that adds layers to the narrative.

But the intrigue doesn’t end there! A dual mystery unfolds when Wyatt receives a call about a missing housemaid from one of the mansions on the mountain. Upon investigating, they discover a lifeless body behind the house, near the stream—could it be a slip and fall, or something more sinister? Meanwhile, on an unrelated note, Adam finds that cherished items from his past, which hold sentimental value, are mysteriously disappearing. Is there a thief lurking among them? Will the sleuthing team of Bobwhite Mountain manage to unravel the final mysteries in this series?
What I particularly appreciated in Profiting and Murder was how Jamie Rutland Gillespie expertly wove in subtle references to past books in the series. These nods provided a wonderful refresher for long-time readers and offered a chance to see how the characters have grown over time. The humor, often centered around Ms. Millie, was a consistent delight. Her quirky and loving nature has made her a character I cherish deeply. But she isn’t the only standout character; each one is thoughtfully developed, with a unique set of traits that come together seamlessly, and they will all be easily remembered well after the book is closed.
Unlike typical cozy mysteries, Profiting for Murder places significant emphasis on the characters’ lives, with the murder mystery serving as an intriguing backdrop. This focus on character development rather than solely on the mystery itself is a testament to Jamie Rutland Gillespie’s storytelling prowess. Even without the mystery, these stories would be a joy to read, but the added intrigue makes for an even more compelling narrative.
The book is a whirlwind of events that are beautifully interconnected, with each development smoothly transitioning into the next. This seamless flow kept me engaged from start to finish. Despite my sadness that this is the series finale, I am satisfied with how Profiting for Murder concluded.
The Bobwhite Mountain Cozy Mystery series has been a charming journey filled with laughter, love, and the kind of friendships that warm the heart. Jamie Rutland Gillespie has crafted a world where each character feels like an old friend, and their stories linger long after the final page is turned. In Profiting for Murder, the last book in this unforgettable series, we are reminded of what makes life in Bobwhite Mountain so special—the bonds that withstand the test of time, the courage to face new challenges, and the enduring love that weaves through every tale. It is a testament to “a love to last a lifetime,” leaving readers with a sense of fulfillment and a gentle reminder of the beauty found in simple, everyday moments. As the series comes to a close, it leaves behind a legacy of warmth and intrigue, ensuring its place in the hearts of its readers forever.

A young woman is found dead on the side of a walkway behind a mansion on the mountain. Sheriff Wyatt follows all the leads but nothing seems to be panning out. Why woudl someone want to kill her?

The murder itself (and solving it) seems to be more of a sub plot in this book. There are several other mini (interlocking) stories within the book.
- Ms. Millie and her eyesight
- Annie and her bakery
- Lisa and Jared's upcoming wedding
- Landry's father Landon
- Items going missing at Adam's condo.

Most books do have subplots but this one seemed to switch more than usual with the murder taking a backseat to all the others. There were no obvious suspects and I found the other storylines to be more filler than substance or actually solving the murder. When the case is finally solved, it felt rushed with little motive.

The previous books in this series were a bit more interesting to me but with the simplistic writing style and lack of focus on solving the case this book just didn't do it for me. JMO

Love cozy mystery? This one was awesome. Landry always seems to find trouble in the most unusual ways. When one of the housekeepers to a rich family on the mountain goes missing , and is later found dead, it is first believed to be an accident. But then, it doesn’t seem possible. And the sheriff starts investigating, and warns Landry not to do her own investigation because she always finds clues but they lead to trouble. What is strange is that , there are no suspects. Everyone loved Maria and everyone had an alibi. Can Sheriff Wyatt find the clues without endangering anyone else? This is book 5 of The Bobwhite Mountain Cozy Mystery series and you will absolutely love the characters, and there are definitely some surprises that will have you smiling! And food…oh yes, lots of food! And some awesome recipes at the end! You will not be disappointed

Life is going well for Landry and her friends. They are eagerly awaiting the marriage of their friends, Lisa and Jarred. Unfortunately, the town is shocked to learn about the discovery of a body of a young woman who was reported missing at first. Landry and her friends want justice for this hardworking and nice young lady.

I loved spending time with Landry and friends. It is always fun to revisit with them and hear more about this cozy small town. The story was enjoyable, and the killer was not someone I guessed right away. Some delicious sounding recipes were also included at the end. Such a wonderful series! I am so sad to see it come to an end.

This is a great book for the whole family. Landry has finally made it to the year that she can get Magnolia Place and the bookstore in her name and she does. Her dad has caused a little ruckus with her mom but Adam came up with a solution to that and there is a wedding taking place. Annie's bakery is getting good publicity and Millie is being a hoot. If you want to find out more, I highly suggest you get the book, it is worth it. My favorite characters are Landry and her dog Zep. You will love this book and the series just like I love this book and the series. thank you.

The latest murder in Bobwhite Mountain turns out to be the best friend of Landry's employee, Jenna. Jenna is devastated, but after being warned off by Wyatt not to investigate, she settles for passing information on to the sheriff. Landry is too busy anyway because she is putting together a couples wedding shower for her friend Lisa's wedding, meeting with her lawyer to get her aunt's estate put in her name and running her two businesses, but we all know trouble has a way of finding her.
Great story in the A Bobwhite Mountain Cozy Mystery Series.

This book was so funny I laughed out loud a few time but also had some emotional tears too. This book is a great extension of the series. The story is a home town full of happiness, mystery and the occasional murder. I love all the characters but Ms. Millie is my favorite hands down. She sassy and hysterical but has a heart of gold too. I’m glad I got to experience this wonderful cozy series. I highly recommend reading it.

As my title states, book 5 in this wonderful series, does not disappoint. Another murder has occurred on Bob White Mountain. The victim had no enemies. As a matter of fact, she seemed to be beloved by all. It's going to be a tough one to solve!
Added to the mystery to solve, there is more excitement including a spread in a magazine for Annie, a shower and wedding, and so much more. Plus a big surprise at the end!!
Looking forward to the next book!!

Absolutely Wonderful

It's a new murder to solve. It's meeting up and reconnecting with old friends and family members. It has twists and turns that keep you guessing! I absolutely devoured this book! Although a standalone I highly recommend reading the whole series! This just might be the best of the series so far. I never guessed who the killer was until they were revealed. Well done Hamie!

Loved it

Landry gets caught up a bit in another murder investigation which has a surprising outcome. Ms. Millie is great as always especially when she can't pass the drivers eye exam and has to go to the eye doctor before she can drive again. Happy endings all around in this one a wedding shower, a marriage and a marriage proposal. Can't wait for the next one.

Profiting and Murder

I noticed that I had caught up with this series. I'm sad that I have to say goodbye. This was a sweet and charming distraction from stress and strife. The characters were charming, the plots were well defined and original. The setting of Bobwhite Mountain was idyllic.

Awesome series!

When Landry inherited her Aunt Tilde's two businesses, there was a stipulation. She had to be making a profit by the end of the first year or she would lose it all. Well, now the year is up and it is time to see what her future holds.
I loved this book. The characters are well written and feel like family.

Love Landry, and her small community of friends are awesome. Had no idea who the murder was and when it was revealed, I was still very much surprised. Also love that her father is in her life now and fits in well with the community and neighbors. Really enjoyed this book and the whole series.
