The Bridge of Trust continues the story of Ruth and Hannah Fisher begun in the prequel, The Bridge of Dreams. Hannah is pursuing her dream of going to college, leaving Ruth at home with her dream of teaching art. David Lantz returns to the community, having left it years ago to live in the Englisch world after the death of his father. Ruth is immediately attracted to David but struggles with the fact that he is from the Englisch world and represents the newer ideas many in her community shun. The story follows the growing relationship between Ruth and David, through the re-building of her family's barn destroyed in the prequel, to Hannah's return from college and decision about her future.

It was a pleasure being back in Ruth and Hannah's world among her family and friends. The author very ably draws you into their struggles, describing the internal conflicts both must deal with, and to which the reader can easily relate. In the midst of Ruth's story is the underlying mystery of who set the Fisher's barn on fire in the prequel -- there is an inkling of who is to be blame, but the question remains throughout the book.

The author pulls you into the book from page one, as you are immediately faced with Ruth's frustration in not being able to teach art, while teaching students in the local school. Not long after David returns to town, their friendship grows as David was hired to repair the roof on the school at which Ruth teaches. David's time away from the Amish community and Ruth's knowledge of the turmoil between old and new within the community, creates an obstacle that may be difficult for them to overcome.

Hannah's return to the community after a year away at the local community college raises Samuel's hopes that she is now ready to settle down, however Hannah is not so sure she can return to the traditional ways. Although her appearance in the book is short, the reader is easily drawn back into the difficult decision Hannah must make.

The author has realistically created life in an Amish community that is struggling with the reality of their changing world. Some embrace new experiences and ideas, while others are determined to keep existing tradition and shun those who try to change what they've known for many years - one can only imagine this is a real struggle within Amish communities today.

My only complaint is that the book is way too short - it is such a wonderful story you just want to keep reading! Fortunately, the wait is not too long for the next in the series to be released!.

David was raised in the Amish community but due to a series of unforeseen situations his mother and father were killed and he was then moved to another family who was not in the Amish community.
In Book 1 we are introduced to him and how he has lived but he feels the calling to return home to his roots. In returning home he meets up with the local school teacher Ruthie and the two start a relationship that continues to grow. The only problem is that because David is not a part of the community they can not divulge their feelings for each other.
In the character Ruth we find a talented Amish woman who teaches school, works summers at the family vegetable stand and is trying to figure out a way to make more money for her family.
The previous year the family barn burned and although many people feel that it was arson there is no proof and so the police have dropped the case. Ruth though feels she knows exactly who the culprits are and worried about her families future.
David is hired to fix the roof of the schoolhouse and this is how they eventually meet. After he finishes this job he is asked to work with Ruth's father as he starts to make plans to build the new barn. David is an architect and has many good ideas to share.
But like our world today the town that they live in has become divided by the old world and the new more open people. Ruth hates that everyone is divided but hopes that eventually things will settle down.
David on the other hand feels like he is part of the problem so when he old boss calls him and asks him to supervise a job he takes it hoping that while he is gone it will help solve the crisis.
What David comes to find out is that Ruth is an artist and a good one and she has a friend who owns an art studio that wants to sell her drawings. Ruth feels that this would add more wood to the fire and chooses not to.
Then tragedy strikes and opens up another world of opportunity to Ruth. Will she take it, will David come back to her.
There were times I felt that this story dragged and it was difficult to continue but as I read more it got better and better.

This is a sweet Amish story that takes place after the prequel, The Bridge of Dreams.

School teacher Ruth Fisher would love to teach art to her students, but has to follow the prescribed curriculum. She does love to draw though and frequently has a sketchbook nearby.

One day she meets David, an Englisher who is fixing the roof of the schoolhouse. Ruth is drawn to him and realizes he lived in their community as a child before losing his parents. David is also attracted to Ruth, but she is concerned that any future with David may take her away from the community since he never took his oath to become Amish.

The Fisher family is more progressive than some in the community, which has caused them some issues such as the loss of their barn and livestock by the deliberate act of another. Ruth's father enlists David to help plan the new barn he's been saving up for.

I enjoyed this story, which feels more realistic to the changing views of the Amish communitie. I'm looking forward to more of this series.

Amish schoolteacher and budding artist, Ruth Fisher meets David Lantz when he is contracted to repair the schoolhouse roof. Their friendship triggers more conflict in the gmaye as the traditional members resist any form of progress…at a particularly high cost to the Fisher family. In the meantime, older sister, Hannah, stirs up already troubled waters…
Further unexpected and sometimes unwelcome changes cause Ruth more emotional apprehension, although she finds solace in working in Adeline’s art gallery in town. David’s return from Harrisburg, with a life-changing decision he has made, opens new prospects for Ruth’s future.
Sylvia Price continues to intrigue her readers with her skillful ability to produce a story that is easily read, but which includes far-reaching and thought-provoking detail.

The Bridge of Trust was a fast-paced read. It was great to be back with characters we've met before and see how their lives continually change. It's part of a series that picked up where we left off with the prequel.

There are twists and turns to the story with sadness and anger still playing a role. This time there is additional sadness and will we find out the truth of the accidents? There are disagreements with how this Amish community will move forward - following traditional beliefs or accepting some changes to how things are done.

There are family and friends, Amish beliefs, neighborliness, as well as dreams and trust. There is a sweet romance as well as the possibility of a happily ever after in the future. A satisfying read and I look forward to reading more in this series.

This is a charming book that kept me turning pages. I fell in love with David & Ruth as they got to know and fall in love with each other. As I read this book I could feel the tension in the community. I found visualizing the beauty of Lancaster easy with Sylvia's attention to detail in her descriptions. I could almost hear the tap tap of hammers pounding while David and the other men worked. My heart pounded in anticipation as I contemplated wether David's love for Ruth would be enough for him return to the simpler life of his Amish roots after 10 years in the English world. This is a sweet, clean love story suitable to all audiences.

Ruth was nearly ex-communicated from her Amish community as she wanted to teach and her friend Adeline who was a English artist was nearly thrown out of town. Disagreements between the Amish and English were growing bitter as they were investing in property. Ruth was a artist too but displaying her art to the society would have brought more problems to her family. She meets David Lanlz who was working at the school house. Ruth is drawn to David even though he was not a Ami. Levi Stoltzfus is a man who loves to cause trouble and abhors anyone going against the traditions. But there is a great ending to the book to make it very enjoyable. I am on the ARC team and receive this book via booksprouts. I leave a honest review. I recommend this book to other readers.

David Lantz and Ruth Fisher were in the same Amish community as children before David moved away to live with his aunt when his father died. Now he was back.
There were changes and conflict in the community. Some wanted to hold onto the traditional ways while others wanted to live with more modern changes.

Ruth and David felt drawn to each and developed a growing friendship. This was not acceptable to both factions since David had lived among the Englisch. This book has an interesting story line and I easily mentally moved into the community and what was going on there. It left me wanting more when it ended … I want to know what happens next. Hopefully, the next book will share more….

The main characters in this books are Ruth , who we met in the previous book, who is a school teacher in Amish school and also a person who likes to paint and sketch, and David, who grew up in Amish family, but after death of his parents were raised by his Englischer aunt. David finished his studies as a constructor and after so time decided to return to his childhood town to slow down his life. Would he be received gladly by the local people who are quarreling between two groups - progressive, open for changes and traditionalists, who don't want to change anything in the simple, Amish ways. And Ruth is trying to denied her growing feelings towards David because she doesn't want to leave her Amish life even if she is open for changes.

This is a sweet story centering around the Lancaster Amish as they navigate their traditional beliefs of love, faith and community with the allure of the world around them. I really liked David Lantz who returns to the community after being gone for 10 years and loved his dynamic with Amish schoolteacher Ruth Fisher. The characters jumped right out of the book and into my heart and I enjoyed every minute of this can't put down book. Ms. Price has given us another must-read and I can't wait to see what happens next in book two of the Lancaster Bridges. I loved reading about how the family were coping with the destruction of their barn and livelihood. The introduction of David into the community had definitely caused some more friction. It is interesting that although it is the traditional Amish re the progressive members it is similar problems in many small communities. I look forward to seeing what happens with Ruth and David’s relationship, with Hannah and Samuel and Levi and the community.

Having read the prequel to the series, I feel that several questions were answered. The passingof time shows that the characters have moved forward on making life-changing decisions. Readers , you will certainly still see conflicted feelings as to whether steps taken by each character will bring the changes desired. It will be very interesting to see where Ms. Price goes with the next installment in the series, but I can see big things for this series in the genre of Amish fiction!.

Ruth meets a new man who comes to the Amish community. Soon they realize the attraction between them. He is an architect & builder. But not everyone in the community appreciates his skills. Hannah experiences a great loss also. When Hannah comes home from college, she realizes she wants more time there. Samuel realizes she is different toward him. This part of the story ends with another loss for the Fisher family.

Great continuation of the series. Picking up from The Bridge of Dreams. Hannah & Ruth are doing what they feel is best for them learning new things, trying to expand outside of the Amish community. Lots of hurdles to overcome and expect to see even more as this series continues on.

A touch of mystery - who was responsible for burning down the family’s barn and the destruction at the farm stand……A touch of romance - immediate attraction between David and Ruth but would opposition from the divided Amish community keep them apart? A story of intrigue carefully written to pique the interest of each and every reader!

Anything written by this author is quite good. I categorize them as "MUST READ."

When David returns to the Amish community where Ruth lives, some of the people in the community are not happy. He had been living with his Englisch aunt for ten years since the death of his family. Now he has a chance to return to Harrisburg to work in construction for his old boss. Decision time!

I always enjoy reading a book about the Amish. This one had me from the start when a woman who grew up Amish and a man who was an "Englisher" find each other. It's not an easy road for them to love. Will their love survive or not?

The Amish community is fractured between those that want some change and those that oppose any change and neither side wants to compromise. Can love find a way in the hearts of two separate couples?
