I reviewed this book because my son is a gamer and I was hoping that I would get some ideas for XMAS presents and help him out a little. What i got was a lessons on becoming a proficient gamer.This book was not written for the expert gamer and it doesnt say it will make you one. But it does give you tools to use that don't necassarily need the most jacked up expensive system to win.

The book is broken down into 3 chapters

Hardware-I was heartened by the "set a budget and stick to it" sentiment Some really great information without "pimping" a certain product. Lots of things I never would have thought to replace or NOT replace. The list at the end based on importance of changing what hardware is great.

Settings- oh my goodness...I said great information for hardware this was fantastic. My son will go crazy configuring just the right settings (and possibly changing them on the fly. Again settings I didnt know about and the importance of changing or not changing them.

Strategies and Tactics- The meat of this book for me. The two simplistic suggestions at the beginning to more consice tactics player roles etc. great stuff my son will devour.

Don't neglect the Key concepts at the end. A dictionary type section so you know what some of these terms mean if you are like me...a novice
