For Love and Money: How to Share the Same Checkbook and Still Love Each Other

Traditionally couples have viewed finances separately from relationships and have managed them with pencils, checkbooks, and calculators. Bernard E. Poduska explains why most financial problems are not money problems but behavior problems. You'll be able to better understand the role of finances and relationships, reduce or eliminate many money-management problems, and establish a functional financial management program that provides for the temporal and spiritual needs of the whole family. A practical device that incorporates a workbook and case studies.

I had to read this for a family finance course at college. Easily one of the most useful books I've ever read. Teaches basics of budgets, needs/wants, emotional spending, auto & home loans, retirement planning, and more importantly how to talk to your spouse about it all. It is a marriage financial therapy book as well as nuts and bolts basics on finances. Everything I should have learned BEFORE I got married.

I took this class at BYU and Dr. Poduska was the teacher. It was a great beginning practical financial principles for a marriage book. I'd highly recommend it if you are just starting out or if you're trying to work together as a couple to put your finances in order. It's a very simple book with sound principles.
