David Tollen writes young adult fantasy novels that teach history and science, as well as nonfiction about technology law.

David is a lawyer, amateur historian, experienced speaker, professional trainer, expert witness, and instructor at U.C. Berkeley Law School. His work in all these roles calls on him to turn complex ideas into simple, clear stories, how-to guides, and presentations.

David's first novel, THE JERICHO RIVER, uses fantasy to teach history to young adults. It's won multiple honors, including first place in its category at the Next Generation Indie Book Awards and a bronze medal in the Readers' Favorite Book Reviews & Awards Contest.

David's second work of fiction is SECRETS OF HOMINEA, a book of interconnected short stories and another award-winner. It uses fantasy to teach both history and science to middle readers.

David is also the author of THE TECH CONTRACTS HANDBOOK, published by the American Bar Association. It's a how-to guide, teaching businesspeople and lawyers to draft contracts about software and other information technology. Since 2010, the Handbook has consistently ranked as the #1 bestseller on Amazon from the American Bar Association (and as one of the ABA's top three to five sellers overall).

David earned a B.A. in history from U.C. Berkeley and has law degrees from Harvard Law School and Cambridge University. He is a member of the Board of Advisors for World History Encyclopedia, the Internet's largest history resource. And he writes the blog Pints of History. David lives in Northern California with his wife and two sons.
