They had once made a promise to belong only to each other, but he was Marc Fremont of the Louisiana Fremonts, and she was only Megan Mahlar, of the nowhere-in-particular Mahlors, and the promise made with the hot impetuosity of youth was destined to be broken.

Older and wiser, they met again. This time they knew that nothing could guarantee their happiness--not his wealth or her lack of it--nothing except each other. Once again they made a promise not to part, but this time the promise would be kept.

It had its good points, (though not that many) but I got tired of the h's pity party attitude. She acted as though she were the only one who ever had things go wrong, had it tough, etc. and seemed to think all wealthy people have life easy just because of their money. Also, her waffling got annoying after a while: she loves the H, but there's too much keeping them apart; she wants a life with him, but things are too complicated; they're soulmates, but they really don't belong together, on and on ad nauseum! She was right about the H's parents, they were snobs who looked down their noses at her (and practically everyone else), and the father was an unscrupulous businessman, but the H wasn't like them, and it's not his fault who his parents are. She wanted her own way too much and didn't want to compromise, saying she wants to have it all. Talk about self-centered!

Also, she seemed to think it was okay to put her career first but wanted the H to put her ahead of anything else. How is that fair?

The business and journalism stuff made this book interesting; the romance was pretty dull. How many times can you hear the H say he wants the h to do a sexy veil dance for him? He really sounded stupid after a while!

This is one you can easily skip.

This is a second chance love story. He is a besotted man. He comes after her again and again. He stands up for her against his parents. He is a five star H.

She on the other hand was annoying. She kept running away and she said some nasty things. She doesn’t deserve him.

I love how open he is about his feelings for the h, how passionate he is and I do feel his love for her, so four stars.
